Tottenham submit opening bid for ‘unreal’ Premier League midfielder as Tanguy Ndombele nears exit

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to Alan Nixon, Tottenham Hotspur have submitted a bid for James Garner.

Following reports that Fabio Paratici had been keeping a close eye on the situation of the Manchester United midfielder who the club are ready to sell, the journalist revealed on his Patreon page (via HITC) that the Italian sporting director has now ‘submitted an opening bid’ for the 21-year-old.

Tottenham reportedly sees Garner as a long-term project, but their interest makes sense since signing him will also help the club with their issues regarding the number of homegrown players in their first-team squad.

Given how talented a young midfielder Garner is, and how his signing will help Spurs with their aforementioned homegrown player issue, it’s easy to see why Paratici would be interested in bringing the United starlet to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before the transfer deadline in September.

The ‘unreal‘ player is highly regarded within the Manchester United ranks as well and Bruno Fernandes even picked Garner as the one player from the academy he would like to play alongside. So, it’s quite surprising that Manchester United are looking to sell him specially considering how they are struggling in the midfield department at the moment.

Tottenham appear to have seen potential in Garner and are now attempting to outbid the competition for his signature this summer. And even though their first bid was just short of United’s valuation, they are expected to come back with an improved offer to seal the deal.

Spurs remain busy in the market as their focus tilts toward offloading the unwanted players having already agreed a loan deal for Giovani Lo Celso and most recently agreed on a loan deal with Napoli for Tanguy Ndombele as reported by Fabrizio Romano. But that won’t stop them from grabbing to opportunities like this one.

Maybe I’m out of the loop , but I’ve never heard of him and if he is that good , why are United wanting to offload , especially during this chaotic time ?
They cant be in need of the dosh either – or can they ?

This signing is not a step forward. What’s happened to the war chest.
