Tottenham will offload Serge Aurier in the summer even though he looks much-improved this season, according to Football Insider.
The Ivorian is spending his fourth season at the club, but he doesn’t inspire much confidence and he has failed to cut out the mistakes that have plagued his time in north London.
He was expected to leave the club last summer when they landed Matt Doherty from Wolves.
However, he battled hard to regain his place in the team with the Republic of Ireland international struggling.
Jose Mourinho has been forced to use Aurier for much of his time at the club, however, the report says the coaching crew still consider him uncoachable.
This is because whilst he has improved overall, he is struggling with some of the deficiencies that have been identified in his game for a long time now.
He will enter the last year of his current deal at the end of this season and that makes this summer the best time for him to leave the club if they want to earn any fee from his sale.
Doherty has the rest of the campaign to show that the club can trust him when Aurier leaves, else a new right-back might arrive in the next transfer window.
Yes they would,it’s a pity we don’t have one.
Zero transfer churn is the hallmark of this Spurs squad ever since the stadium build began…
JM, fair point but viewing his montage of video clips of his best bits on You Tube delivering a diet of quality crosses into the box at PSG with unerring accuracy suggested he is a world beater!!!!
It’s a pity that those deficiencies in his game weren’t identified before he was signed.
I’m sure any competent scout could have worked out he wasn’t reliable enough.
Got a feeling you’re right. There may be one or two bargain basement loan deals but I can see most of them being here next season.
Plenty for Jose to ponder between now and when we play them in the League Cup Final!
Best tactical approach is to try and hit them over the top as and when we get rare possession!!
Ah 4-1 (Jesus)
GOAL – Man City 3-1 Wolves (Riyad Mahrez)21 games winning run. Amazing.
2-1 City (Jesus)
Whilst Lamela’s work ethic is commendable his inability to make clean tackles from mistimed challenges is par for the course these days!!
Easty in fairness nobody could have predicted Doherty’s fall from grace when he joined Spurs on the strength of his consistently impressive performances for Wolves at that time!!
I sort of agree. Davies is a decent and fairly reliable squad player, Sanchez simply isn’t as bad as people are making out. Lamela has to go, I just can’t see the point in continuing with the farce…
And replace them with whom with Levy holding on to the purse strings? If indeed he’ll even sell any of them unless he robs the buyer blind…
Only we could end up getting rid of Aurier and end up with a replacement equally dodgey in Doherty… Levy has no coherent transfer plan whatsoever.
Gallows humour: “The only way Wolves are getting any points here is if the coach driver gets done for speeding on the way home”.
Possession stat: 85% (City) 15% (Wolves)
Citeh 1 v Wolves 0 (Sterling)
Doherty
Lamela
Dier
Sanchez (I’d keep)
Davies (I’d keep)
About time.

And thats just for starters…
When you have won 20 consecutive games in the PL I suppose you can afford to to rest the likes of Messrs Gundogan, Foden and Stones!!
Arguably on current form Southgate ought be selecting both Villa full backs for England plus Tyrone Mings and Grealish. Replace Maguire with the more agile John Stones!
Arguably the best keeper (Martinez) in the PL and most consistent full backs in Matt Targett and Matty Cash respectively all play for the Villains!!
Ok whilst defensively better than he was please humour me as to which boxes he ticks? when his crossing and shooting is generally poor. IMO too erratic for my liking.
Aye.. Would be sorry to see him go.
I don’t think he was expected to leave. Maureen wouldn’t have sold KWP and left us with only one right back.. When Docherty signed, Maureen said it was competition for places and he expects Aurier to fight for his place. He said nothing about him leaving.. He’s our first choice right back, unless we sign a new one then I hope he stays.
Like I said last week this summer could see us move on a number of players maybe more than normally due to them entering last years of contracts, not required or just not meeting the grade.
If we do let the “power serge”go we’ll have to bring in two good right wing backs then. I can’t see him being sold in the summer.
