Tottenham is facing competition from Arsenal for Takehiro Tomiyasu as they continue to chase the Bologna full-back.
Spurs are keen to add him to their squad and have already made an opening offer for his signature.
It has been rejected, but we expect them to return with a better offer before the transfer window closes.
Italian newspaper, Il Resto del Carlino reports that Arsenal is also targeting a move for the 22-year-old.
He was an important player at Bologna last season and caught the attention of several scouts around Europe.
The report says Arsenal is looking to sell Hector Bellerin to Inter Milan and they will replace the Spaniard.
One of the players who they consider as a replacement for him is Tomiyasu.
Their plans for the Japanese will see them clash with Tottenham in the transfer market.
However, the report insisted that Tottenham remains the leading club for his signature at the moment.
The Lilywhites would be smart to reach an agreement with the Italians as soon as possible to avoid being beaten to his signature by Arsenal or any other club.
Signing him will mean Serge Aurier would most likely leave Spurs because it won’t make sense for them to have three right-backs when they have other areas of their squad to bolster.
Look after the grands and the millions will look after themselves
Arsenal can’t compete with us anymore (fees or wages.
Correct!
the issue isn’t the initial low offer that is common, the issue lies in the bald ones refusing to increase said offer and insisting the selling club do all the compromise
Or, more likely “Takehiro Tomiyasu’s agent tells Italian newspaper that Arsenal are competing…”
Could you imagine if our chairman saw a psychiatrist……and what would the findings be??
Why do we always seem to ponce about when it comes to paying fees? so many players we have lost due to this……I’m sure our number has been blocked by so many agents/clubs.
Like others have said why squabble over a few million when the club will get that back (and more) from shirt sales in the far east.
An embarrassment
