Tottenham plots reunion with Mourinho’s former player

By Bruce Grove -

The Daily Star is reporting that Tottenham is plotting a move for Manchester United man, Jesse Lingard.

The 27-year-old has struggled for form since Jose Mourinho left Old Trafford in 2018.

The last two seasons have been tough for him as he has lost his place in the Manchester United starting XI and hasn’t started a Premier League game since January.

He reportedly felt like he returned for preseason in top shape and was furious after being left on the bench in Manchester United’s loss against Crystal Palace.

The report claims that Tottenham is prepared to spend £30 million on him and reunite him with Mourinho who believes he can revive his career.

This has been an exciting summer transfer window for Tottenham, but their fans will hardly be excited about the news of Lingard joining them.

They have already landed Gareth Bale and even Dele Alli is struggling to get game time at the moment. It makes no sense to add another underperforming England international to their team.

Spurs started their campaign with a 1-0 loss at home to Everton, but the Lilywhites have now won two of two matches both away from home, and their fans will hope that is a sign of good things to come.

Not sure Lingard qualifies as a good thing to come.

Not worth 30m, not anywhere near that, Maybe worth a punt at 15m if Jose thinks he can get a tune out of him.

If we have money to spend it needs to be a centre back, a Liverpool or City would have been three níl up after 15 minutes today with Dier and Sanchez as dumb and dumber. Wrong side of their man, no physicality, dreadful.

Lingard is just an older less talented version of Dele.

Nonsense story. Wishful thinking by Utd. I’m sure we’d rather spend the money on Belotti or someone else with ability.

Another made up story. We’ve already got about 6 better players in his position. Doesn’t create, doesn’t score.

Don’t get me wrong I don’t fancy this signing at all.

Jose and Levy might see £25 mill as quite cheap for an English player who’s still only 27 if they could squeeze United on the price. I just don’t see him as a priority – the only thing he’d bring is he takes a shot from outside the box which is more than Moura tries. He honestly looks behind old boy Townsend at Palace at this point in his career though – just a very old school Spurs type signing.

We’re better than this one.

Another 7 out of 10 player like the Leicester winger.

Only useful because homegrown I guess and might be cheap’ish.
