Tottenham players are reportedly feeling the strain after being put through Antonio Conte’s famously intensive training sessions.
The Italian tactician recently replaced Nuno Espirito Santo as Spurs manager, and he’ll no doubt have a tough job ahead of him after the poor start to the season made by the north Londoners.
Conte has previously had entirely world class squads and big transfer budgets to work with at clubs like Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan, but he’s bound to find life at Tottenham a bit more of a challenge.
Still, he also seems to be doing his best to try to get these players up a level by exhausting his squad with his training methods, with The Athletic describing the players as feeling “dead” afterwards.
It will be interesting to see how well these methods go down with the club’s players, but it sounds like the best way Conte could start life in his new job.
It’s been difficult watching Spurs so far this season, but improving the players’ fitness and work rate could get the team on the right path to solving their issues.
Some of the Players still at the club didn’t like it when Poch trained them hard so helped him out the door. Good luck AC.
If they didn’t know what to expect when Conte took over they’re more stupid than I imagined. He is known for the emphasis he puts of physical fitness. They had it too easy under Nuno.
I think he is just trying to get them up to the required base line fitness for a Premier League footballer.
Trust in Antonio, he’s got the medals to show his methods work.
I recall the tedium of Poch’s first months as the squad was whipped into shape and then it all clicked. Hope springs eternal. Forza Antonio
When he was at Chelsea he was always saying, my playerrrs are tirrredd
The season before when they won the league they had no European football
Excactly, the same was said after Poch’s training sessions….players either not fit enough or too tired! Always excuses…it’s us fans who are always the real losers!
I can see the headlines if we loose to Leeds “Player are said to be tired following Conte exhausive training sessions”
