Tottenham now ready to sell player for embarrassing fee

By Mehdi Gokal -

Conte wants Tanganga gone and is willing to let him go in January, according to the Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb.

The report indicates that the defender has been placed on the transfer list.

The 23-year-old has spent his entire career with Spurs, having come through the club’s youth system before being upgraded to the first team in 2020.

However, Tanganga has fallen out of favour at Tottenham, particularly since the arrival of Antonio Conte. The Italian signed players in the central defensive and the right-back, where Tanganga previously played for the club. He was amongst those who Spurs were actively looking to sell in the summer.

Plenty of clubs were interested in signing him with the likes of AC Milan, Nottingham Forest, and AS Roma all linked with him. Roma were closest to signing him but the club ‘couldn’t agree on the terms of the loan’ agreement.

Tottenham had accepted Milan’s initial loan proposal but wanted to include a €25 million “obligation to buy” clause. The Italian club had no objections to the price, but they wanted it to be an option rather than a requirement.

And now, Spurs are desperate to get rid of him once again and this time he may not be short of suitors since according to the report, Spurs are ready to slash his asking price to half.

The report from CMW suggests that Spurs will be eager to offload the youngster in January and would accept as little as £8.75 million. Despite the fact that Tanganga is a homegrown player, something Spurs desperately need in their squad, he is not being considered.

The former England U21 international’s form has deteriorated in recent seasons, so a move away from Spurs will makes sense for him too.

Tanganga could benefit from joining a lower Premier League club to gain more game time and effectively restart his career. He is still young, so he has plenty of time to become a genuine success.

Tanganga is no world beater, but surely he is better than both Royal and Doherty. We really are desperate if we haven’t got a decent RWB out of those three.
