It has been confirmed that Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has tested positive for Covid19, according to TalkSport.
Ndombele’s international teammate and Man Utd star Paul Pogba has also tested positive and both have been withdrawn from the France squad for the upcoming games against Sweden and Croatia in the Nations League.
Naturally, we all wish a speedy and uneventful recovery for Ndomebele and hope that it does not affect him too much, however, from a Tottenham perspective, it is not too damaging.
Ndombele has not featured much under Jose Mourinho and the signs are there that not much will change in that regard when the new season kicks off on September 12th.
The timing is not too bad because, with luck, Ndomeble will be back in action in 14 days and there is no reason why he cannot continue training in isolation up to that point.
There is still speculation over the 23-year-old’s future and that will no doubt continue. It is still very questionable whether he will be a Tottenham player next season with the likes of Inter Milan said to be very interested in signing the Frenchman (Guardian).

You didn’t need to say goodbye. Could a just fckd off
This is beneath me. Adios
He may be a quality player, which he has shown in glimpses, but he does not want to play for the club anymore.
So he has to be sold, simple as that.
Maybe Mourinho going public one too many times has made his mind up.
So what can you do.
You have to sell him for as much as you can get, then move on.
OMG I have just seen it – Pogba and Ndombele away discussing Mourinho in their native tongue.
I really can’t see a way back for him – hope I am wrong as he has bags of talent.
OK! Struth
Until Ndombele starts scoring goals, rampaging through opposition’s midfields and defences all you have is dreams. Are you still waiting for John Bostock and David Bentley to show you how good they are too?
Probably caught it off the ‘ just eat ‘ delivery driver. I’m surprised he is still getting a call up after his lack football.
I don’t rate dele. Ndom p!$$es on him re footballing ability. Who knows why ndom don’t wanna play for us? I don’t. You asking me where my loyalties lie? What do you know about loyalty?
With one hand you defend a guy that hasn’t offered anything to Spurs, not one drop of sweat all season, but with the other you want to get rid of Dele. Like both of these players you need consistency. No Spurs fan worth his salt would slate Dele, yet support Ndombele. Both need to buck their ideas up, that is why Southgate has dropped Dele. Deschamps picking an under performing club player is doing him no favours. Being quality for one season at Lyon does not make Ndombele a player. Ndombele has shown no desire to play for our club, makes me wonder where your loyalties lie.
He’s quality that’s why.
Our very own Covid Ginola
How the effin hell are all these footballers catching covid?
France are World Champions and Ndombele made their squad! Something is very wrong in football. There we are, chewing the fat, whether Grealish should have made the England squad after a pretty impressive season and the French are picking this lad. Now, Dele can’t get near the England set up at the moment (and rightly so) and he did better than Ndombele did last season. The French seem to be excellent ( Kante, Mpabbe, Pogba, Greizmann) or bobbins.
How much more self isolation can one man go into?
Hmmm, at least he’s out of contention in the off-season. I have high hopes for him, if he can shake off the ego
