Tottenham make £253k-a-week superstar their ‘primary target’

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham have made Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak a ‘primary target,’ according to the Evening Standard, and have already begun talks about a potential move for the stopper.

Oblak, 29, has established himself as one of Europe’s best goalkeepers after a stellar career with Atletico Madrid. He joined Atletico Madrid as a 21-year-old in 2014 and has since played 360 times in all competitions.

According to reports, Tottenham are now eying him as Hugo Lloris’ replacement. The Frenchman’s deal at Spurs expires in 2024 and the club are said to have already started looking for long term replacements with Oblak emerging as the top target.

Oblak has a contract at Atletico Madrid for another 6 years showing just how important he is for the club. But the Madrid based club are still willing to discuss a potential sale out of loyalty to the player.

And according to the report by Evening Standard, Oblak is a ‘primary target’ for Spurs but could face competition from Manchester United who are also seriously interested in him.

He has kept 177 clean sheets under Diego Simeone, conceding only 275 goals. It’s difficult to find a goalkeeper with better stats than the Slovenian and Tottenham would be lucky to sign one of most in demand players.

I’ve been battling various colds and pseudo Covid-shaped sh*tehawks for what’s been months, but it slowly seems/feels like forever.

The joy of having an estimated 25\30% of one’s lung missing. Thanks, Sarcoidosis, you fat bald F@&k.

If you want no-holds-barred me, then I’m on this thing https://theboyhotspur.substack.com/ which doesn’t get aggregated, so I don’t need to be compliant, with anything. Maybe I’ll be responsible for the planet imploding… that’s go 4,500+ subscribers which I find enthusing. Or maybe remarkable is more accurate. Some of them have even paid.

Yeah, me neither.

I freelance like a muthahugga, and you might have heard of the BBC. They give me the price of a cup of tea for providing a Tottenham Talking Point column every Tuesday. To be honest, it’s nice to just get invited in out of the rain.

No way is Oblak going to sit on the bench waiting for Lloris to see out his contract.Besides if Utd.are interested they will simply outbid us.A non story.

That would actually sound like a decent strategy. At 29, Oblak is at the peak of his powers and could give us 5-6 years, while Meslier is a young talent. But I don’t see it happening.

Three days ago your colleague in crime whose name is posted as Saikat, wrote that we were interested in signing the Leeds Utd keeper, Meslier. So, is he going to be Oblak’s understudy at Spurs?
