Tottenham Hotspur are very interested in signing the Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo during the summer transfer window, but they will have to pay a premium for him.

According to former Premier League scout Mick Brown, the Cherries are looking to make it difficult for clubs to sign the 25-year-old attacker this summer. He is an indispensable asset for them, and they have set his asking price to £70 million in order to ward off his suitors.

Brown claims that Tottenham have been made aware of the situation, and it remains to be seen what they decide.

Tottenham will need to pay over the odds

Brown told Football Insider: “With Semenyo, they really want to keep him because he was such a key player going forward and they don’t want to lose many more players.

“They’ve set this £70million asking price in the hope of deterring any interest.

“Tottenham have been made aware of that, from what I’ve heard, after they approached Bournemouth to see whether he might be available.

“They hope that will put them off, but you never know because he is a key target for Spurs.”

Antoine Semenyo would be a quality addition

The 25-year-old had an outstanding season with the Cherries, and he scored 13 goals last season. He picked up seven assists as well. The Ghanaian International is capable of operating anywhere across the front, and Tottenham need a dynamic attacker like him. He could transform them in the attacking unit.

The player will be attracted to the idea of competing at the highest level as well. Joining Tottenham will be quite exciting for him. They will be able to provide him with the platform to compete in the UEFA Champions League and test himself against top-quality players.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to pay a premium for him. They need to improve further areas of their squad as well, and they cannot afford to overspend on the African.
