Tottenham loanee discusses January exit, adapting to the Premier League

By Eddie Razo -

This past January, Tottenham Hotspur saw an exit of several players who don’t have a future in north London. However, one player that did leave that might be part of the project going forward is Bryan Gil, who’s on loan to Valencia.

Since returning to Spain, Gil has flourished and has played a part in Valencia reaching the Copa del Rey final that will occur on Saturday against Real Betis.

In an interview with Marca, Gil spoke about his exit that included players like Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, and Dele Alli departing Spurs during the winter window.

“It is a very broad squad, with very good players, they are showing it with a very good winning streak that has placed fourth in the Premier and they have very top players,” Gil said.

“They can afford to give him confidence, letting players like Lo Celso, Ndombélé or me play on loan and still keep winning. Which is what Tottenham has shown so far, that they are a very competitive team and that they are at an incredible level.”

Gil also discussed the adaptation going from La Liga to the Premier League and stated that the pace was something he noticed was different and had to figure out as a young player.

“It’s hard because it’s the first time you go out to live in another country, with another language. The pace in England is a bit higher, it takes a bit more physicality and it’s hard, but I think I’ll get used to it,” Gil said.

There’s no option or obligation to buy on the loan deal for Gil, and the way he has performed these last few months, Spurs might want to give him another chance to prove himself before making any long-term decision.

Yeah bring him back and give him another chance as a squad player to start with – 5 subs are allowed next season and the lad undoubtedly has talent. Could the money have been better spent elsewhere? Possibly. But I’m not writing him off yet.
