Finding a central defender is atop Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer wishlist as they look to find the third member for the backline to go alongside Cristian Romero and Eric Dier. There are plenty of names connected to the north London club, one of them is Piero Hincapié.
According to German media outlet Kicker (via Futbol Ecuador), manager Antonio Conte has requested that Spurs pursue the Ecuador international this summer. Furthermore, the report states that the Premier League side would be willing to pay Bayer Leverkusen €40 million.
Should Tottenham pay the price and the Bundesliga club accept the bid, Hincapié would arrive to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with some pressure as the fee makes him the most expensive Ecuadorian footballer ever.
The fee would crush the €18 million that Manchester United spent on Antonio Valencia in 2009, so the 20-year-old would be attempting to live up to that title. Last season, Hincapié made 33 appearances, helping Bayer Leverkusen finish in the top four and clinch UEFA Champions League football for next season.
Thank you Daniel glad to see you are still alive & kicking
This release of capital is nothing to do with stadium revenue.
People ask for action early and more spending to attract better player, but don’t look now our keyboard warriors are out dragging Levy for any deal that was not done yesterday for their likenings. The divide has already started after the first 3 signings. Our management team from social media has decided there are Levy signings Conte may or maybe not want depending on if they succeed. See Kulu and Bentancur ” The Juve rejects” has Levy written all over it until….Don’t worry am use to being call a Levy apologizer for having a different opinion. Richarlison fit the bill to over the fronine. Lets say if he signs for 5 years, count the $15M as Kane insurance premium payment. We still can go out and get a striker on this market. Lenglet will solve central defense issue for in my opinion. We only short on a creative mid. Then ee can ship the deadwood without replacement. Money back in the coffer.
The stadium seems to be making a difference with our wage bill, has gone up a lot now. Still haven’t paid too many massive fees – saying that, this strategy of getting in some loans and players out of contract to supplement the ‘big fee purchases’ is a solid one, if the players are what we need/up to snuff.
Off piste,I just saw that Anthony Georgiou was picked up by Orient having been “unattached”.Another fine example of our world class academy production line.
If Levy keeps going it won’t be perfect but it will be good…we were so far behind when Nuno joined, the sprinkle of magic Conte bought could only go so far….it seems Levy is backing his man, be it with restrictions, but thats ok…..get rid of the dross and by next summer we can be in a position where we look at 1, 2 maybe 3 very good players rather than replacing half the squad….thats how it should be when you have a good “squad”
The joke is not lost on me – but – (and Levy is far from perfect in my eyes) the bloke said that the new stadium will enable us to compete financially with the oligarks / oil sheikhs. Levy was stadium first, team second. None of us liked it, but it at least it appears he is holding up his end of the deal, so fair play to him.
love it
I think Levy either has a naming rights deal done or is suffering from concussion
…the possibility of several signings with a month of the transfer window left..suggests hes being held hostage somewhere & this clone hasnt read the script…😏
