Tottenham in talks to take Serie A star on loan this month

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham is reportedly in talks to sign long-term Jose Mourinho target, Ivan Perisic on loan for the rest of this season.

The Croatian has been courted by Mourinho for a very long time now.

He was desperate to sign him when he was the manager of Manchester United, but the club couldn’t agree on a deal with Inter Milan.

As his team chases trophies this season, Foot Mercato via Sun Sports says that Spurs are trying to sign him this month.

The Croatian is one of Europe’s best attackers and he spent the last campaign on loan at Bayern Munich, where he helped them to dominate European football.

The Bavarians didn’t make his loan move permanent, and he has returned to the Inter first team.

Tottenham has just reached the final of the Carabao Cup and they have the chance to win the FA Cup, Europa League and the Premier League as well.

This month offers them the chance to strengthen their squad ahead of the games to come.

Perisic has scored once and provided two assists in 15 league games for Inter this season.

Spurs have relied mainly on Harry Kane and Son Heung-min this season and Perisic could bring more goals to the team if he joins them.

Perisic was hours from going to man united and had told his teammates he was leaving. Mou wanted him badly but Woodward didn’t want to pay the few extra mill required. Perisic was deeply distressed and didn’t play matches because his head was not right. Since then has not been extending himself – hence Inter sending him on loan to Bayern!
Back at Inter, he has continued to play within himself without busting a gut – much to Conte’s anger. Mou wants him and if he arrives his stats WILL increase especially in crossing.
In 2018/19, Perišić records a high number of crosses (203) in the league and is tied second for crosses going to the goalie box per 90.
Perišić was one of Serie A’s most dangerous and direct wingers. This is aside from scoring with both feet and head.

There is so much negativity re Jose.
150 home league games undefeated spanning 9 years and 4 clubs, Jose just needs backing and he will do it on a shoestring budget this time.
He will also stay in his home town London with Spurs for years – just to disprove the naysayers. Mou understands that with this club, both will benefit in the long run.
Football is played with an attack and a defense, winning can be achieved with either being superior.
From my culture, with multiple World Cups in the pocket, winning matches + trophies are more important than entertaining football.
We have endless bragging rights at the pub!!
The Spurs team is in transition/development with the defense still needing to be protected until better recruits are obtained. When this happens Tottenham fans will have the entertainment they desire + the joy of trophies that will result.
Levy has wanted Mourinho for years – there is a mutual respect between the two. Other clubs will see a dynasty of greatness for years to come from this Tottenham squad Mourinho is building.
Patience and trust is what is required.

Jose wants a decent crosser of the ball and excellent finisher – by foot or head, experienced and hard working. Age is irrelevant as he is a very fit athlete. On a loan deal makes great sense.

Yep. Around the last World cup, or just before would have been the time to get Perisic, on a PERMANENT deal. Now he’s 31, and another loan for a past his best player would be more pound foolish Levy nonsense. Definition of insanity type deal going on here….

Wouldn’t do any harm, his stats are quite poor though.
