Tottenham in talks to finally sell unwanted man

By Bruce Grove -

Mail Online claims that Spurs are in talks with AC Milan to sell Serge Aurier before this transfer window closes.

The Lilywhites have landed Matt Doherty this summer as they prepare to let the Ivorian leave for the right price.

Aurier was the club’s only right-back for much of last season as Jose Mourinho helped them finish inside the top six.

However, the 27-year-old is prone to making mistakes and he needed to be replaced.

Doherty has been signed as an improvement on the former PSG man and Spurs will be happy to sell him.

Milan is looking for a new right-back and the Ivorian is, according to the Mail, one of their main targets.

The same report claims that Milan is also looking to land Max Aarons from Norwich but Aurier might be a cheaper option for them after the Canaries rejected Barcelona’s offer worth around £20m.

The report didn’t state if the Italians have made an offer to Spurs yet, but both teams are reportedly locked in talks and trying to make the transfer happen in a condition that will be favourable to both parties.

The Europa League game against Shkendija last week was his first competitive start for Tottenham this season.

As we have sold KWP , I don’t understand the need to sell Aurier.. Perhaps Levy will surprise us all and buy Max Aarons, who appears to be good enough for Barca, to learn his craft under Doherty, or perhaps it is just a matter of balancing the books. I will leave you all to make up your minds about that one.

Tanganga is injured or not match fit,a second choice Aurier will always start ahead of playing Tanganga out of position.Serge played better on Thursday maybe competition is good for him.

I say keep Aurier as back up and competition to Doherty. If Doherty gets crocked who comes in? We sold a decent RB in KWP to Southampton for some bizarre reason, money I expect, just so Spurs PR machine could boast about the deal with them.

Would be stupid to sell him now. Let him and Doherty fight it out. Neither of them can play 50-60 games.#nosellserge
