Tottenham Hotspur are working to sign Mathys Tel permanently from Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window.
The 20-year-old was on loan at Tottenham during the second half of the season, and although his performances were mediocre, he remains an elite prospect with a bright future. Tottenham need more depth in the attacking unit, and they have decided to sign him permanently.
Mathys Tel scored two goals in 13 league games for Tottenham during his loan spell.
They had an option to sign the player for a fee of around €60 million, but Tottenham are unwilling to pay that kind of money for him. They are hoping to negotiate a more reasonable deal for the French attacker. It will be interesting to see if they can finalise an agreement with the German champions quickly.
Tottenham working on summer move
According to journalist Dean Jones, Tottenham are now looking to secure an agreement for the player. It will be interesting to see if they can get the deal across the line.
“They are pressing ahead in negotiations for Mathys Tel and are also looking to close out agreements for Johnny Cardoso and Angel Gomes. All of this is happening while serious internal conversations are unfolding about Ange Postecoglou’s future. Sunday night in London saw key decision-makers discussing whether to stick or twist with the manager,” Jones wrote on the Ranks FC Ultras Patreon page.
Mathys Tel needs to leave Bayern Munich

The attacker does not have a future with Bayern Munich in Germany, and it makes sense for him to leave them permanently. He will look to sort out his long-term future and focus on his football. Joining Tottenham would be ideal for him.
Regular football in the Premier League could accelerate his development and help him fulfil his potential. The player has gained reasonable experience of English football over the last few months, and he will look to build on it and produce better performances next season.
