Tottenham Hotspur have an option to sign Mathys Tel permanently for a fee of around €60 million.
The 20-year-old joined Tottenham on loan during the second half of the campaign. However, his performances have been underwhelming, and he has not been able to live up to the expectations.
Naturally, Spurs do not want to pay the asking price for him. It seems that they are now set to be handed a major discount for the French attacker.
Tel has three goals and an assist in 19 appearances for Spurs.
The asking price could be lowered
Bayern Munich are hoping to get rid of him permanently, and they are ready to sell him for €40 million, according to the Bayern Insider podcast with journalists Christian Falk and Tobias Altschäffl.
That is a substantial discount on the player, and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to take the option to sign him in the summer. There is no doubt that he is a prodigious talent with a bright future, and he could be an important player for Tottenham in the coming seasons.
“Tottenham is now in the Champions League, and that could mean a lot of money for Mathys Tel,” said Altschäffl.
“That’s true, and we’ve also heard that Daniel Levy is still a big fan of his, even though he didn’t start in the final,” added Falk.
“The exit period from €60-50m would also go down again. I think over €30m is a negotiating basis, and if we land on €40m, I think it would be okay. So the deal is still not off the table.”
Mathys Tel will look to sort out his future

The attacker will look to sort out his long-term future and focus on his football. Leaving the German club permanently would be ideal for him. The opportunity to join Tottenham could be an exciting one for him. Even though he has not been his best over the last few months, he will look to establish himself as a player for the London club.
He has the technical attributes and the quality to succeed in English football. He can operate on either flank as well as centrally. He will look to add goals and creativity to the Tottenham attack.
