“Tottenham fans will be furious’ Sky Sports pundit makes bold transfer claim

By The Boy -

Gary Neville is certainly in the right job, he’s an opinion machine and many of his views may be received very poorly, but much like Jamie O’Hara, it is difficult to recall an instance when either man was lost for words. One element of Neville’s personality never goes away and that is his unrelenting favouring of his club, Manchester United. So it comes as little surprise that Gary fancies Harry Kane spending his final top-flight years at Old Trafford.

“Tottenham fans will be furious with me, they’ll say it’s me coming on television trying to get their player to Manchester United. It’s not. It just looks to me at this moment in time the most likely move. Chelsea, I can’t see him going there. He’s quite loyal to Tottenham and there’s a big rivalry with Chelsea, so I don’t see that happening, even though they do need a centre-forward. He’s not going to go to Arsenal because of the rivalry, so Manchester United is the only option in England for Harry Kane this summer.”

The problem with the suggestion that Kane quit Spurs in order to pursue silverware elsewhere is that it doesn’t match up with the manner in which Harry conducts himself, or his demeanour. Since the dim and distant days Harry of fighting for game time, being sent on loan, and being somewhat of a lost soul, Kane has become the first pick of both his club and country’s coaches.

It was notable when Kane spoke to the crowd after breaking Jimmy Greave’s goal record, that this club means a colossal amount to him, and to his family. The 29-year-old has also seen the manner in which former Spurs players have fared after leaving N17. The failures match the successes. Teddy Sheringham and Michael Carrick are still thought of well, but Sol Campbell certainly is not. Robbie Keane arguably did himself few favours with the indecently fast manner he jumped ship to join Liverpool, which was a massive washout, with just 5 goals in the one season he spent on Merseyside.

Kane is a Tottenham legend, and it is ambitious to believe that ‘one of our own’ would want to jeopardise that status.
