Tottenham is serious about adding top quality players to their squad this summer and they have now been linked with a Euro 2020 star.
Corriere dello Sport says they are competing with Barcelona for the signature of Napoli attacker Lorenzo Insigne.
The Italy international has been one of the stars in his country’s Euro 2020 campaign and he scored a screamer as they beat Belgium in the quarter-finals.
A player of his calibre should play for a top European club, but he has spent his entire career registered by Napoli having been born in Naples.
However, the end of his relationship with them might be getting closer after the report claimed that the club’s owner Aurelio De Laurentiis, has struggled to tie him down to a new deal.
Napoli wants him to sign a new long-term contract, but he is hesitating to put pen to paper on the latest offer.
It might be a signal to other clubs that he wants to leave and Tottenham has been tipped to sign him.
They would face competition from Barcelona in their bid to take him to London.
The Sun says he earns around £82,000-a-week at Naples, a wage that Tottenham can significantly improve on if he agrees to move to London.
Is he that good, or is he just having good Euros?
Swap deal for Lamela is appealing though!
If we’re looking at over 30yo Serie A strikers playing for mid table teams, get Ciro Immobile in, he scores some bangers, and is much more suited to the Prem at 6’1 than the 5’4″ Insigne.
Poor lad he will be having sleepless nights worrying if he should sign for Barca or Spurs.
Won’t be much of a battle then as Levy will offer a quarter of his value and Harry Winks.
Fancies playing in the Conference League then.
