It was never going to be an easy ride for Nuno Espirito Santo as the Tottenham manager and to some extent, it really is not his fault that his tenure is fast unravelling.
Any manager that comes in as the fifth, sixth or seventh choice is always going to face an uphill battle to gain credibility with the fans and that is proving to be the case with the Portuguese.
Jose Mourinho was rather fortunate that there were no fans in the stadium when he was trotting out his brand of football and that probably kept him in the job longer than he deserved. Nuno does not have that luxury and that was clearly evident yesterday against Man Utd.
Nuno does not make it easy for himself, his starting lineup yesterday was very questionable, especially selecting Ben Davies over Sergio Reguilon at left-back and then when he substituted Lucas Moura and brought on Steven Bergwijn, the floodgates of disapproval opened up.
Tottenham posted up that substitution and you can see from some of the responses that it was not well received.
Those boos are telling

Makes no sense this sub, should be Kane off and Bergwijn in, Moura is the only player that likes to go in a 1 v 1 against the players

Why is lo celso on the pitch still why is Lucas off why isn’t ndombele on why isn’t reguilon why 2 cdms why no tactics

Why? Moura is the only player in a Spurs shirt showing any energy and forward movement. Nuno does not know what he is doing. Changes the team all the time. #COYS

We are an absolute joke of a football club. Nuno is worse that Mourinho.

To be honest , NoNo never had the Fans to be able to loose them. Dead Man Walking from the get go.
To be fair Moura blows hot & cold but it was a terrible decision on the day especially as Bergwijn looked pony last time out.
He won’t survive it looks like we have another 1/2 season of Ryan Mason.
At least we will create chances then.
Moura is a genuine trier and still a cult hero for many people due to his efforts against Ajax. Subbing him off for Bergwijn, who, bless him, hasn’t done a thing at Spurs and seems completely lost, is a pretty stupid move. A sub should give fans hope of turning things around, but Stevie B just doesn’t offer that at all.
It’s not all doom & gloom. lo celso completed 90 minutes for the first time in an EPL game for at least 7-8 months….. we can ignore the fact that yesterday & for almost his entire tenure at Spurs he’s been useless…..
