“This has all come from fear” Pundit says Levy’s move to stop Newcastle takeover is because he is afraid

By Bruce Grove -

Daniel Levy has been in the news lately as he joined some other Premier League executives to stop Newcastle United from being taken over by a new ownership group with support from the Saudi Arabian government.

The Daily Mail reports that some EPL execs also tried to stop the Magpies from earning a new lucrative sponsorship deal and the Spurs supremo was heavily involved.

Frank McAvennie is unimpressed with Levy’s contribution in trying to block another club from making progress and says he is doing that out of fear.

The former West Ham man also blasted him for not speaking to the Tottenham fans via the THST.

With the Lilywhites supporters turned against him, McAvennie says he doesn’t have a leg to stand on.

Now he is worried that Newcastle will knock Tottenham off their perch and Spurs cannot compete against the wealth that their new owners possess.

“Levy isn’t even talking to the fans now, he’s blanking them,” McAvennie told Football Insider.

“He hasn’t got a leg to stand on, the fans have fully turned on him.

“It’s as if he’s trying to wind them up as much as possible. He thinks he doesn’t have to answer to anybody.

“This has all come from fear. Levy is scared that Newcastle could knock Tottenham off the map.

“He cannot compete with that wealth. Not being able to compete scares Levy.

“He tried to stop the takeover, now he’s trying to stop sponsors, grow up.

“Honestly, it’s pathetic, I’m embarrassed for him.”

While I don’t like the grubby money game that football has become, we have to live with it, alas, it’s a fact of life. Nevertheless, hoping the good days are just around the corner for your lot. I’d like to see Newcastle lifting a league title and the people of the North East having a bit of success.

No, Levy is the main reason why the squad went stale!

Inter at the lane. I’ll never forget it (west upper) I really liked Martin jol. Wasn’t he sacked during the villa game? I’m glad he sacked Graham. If José was here for the final we’d a got stuffed. I’m all for the NFL thing. (Great for our local economy here in tottenham. Keane and berbs wanted to leave. Ramos woulda got us relegated. He had to go. Sacking arry was wrong.
Poch didn’t know how to hustle players. No links to bring in loans either. I blame him for the squad going stale.

If Lewis pulls this off (which he will) it will be a nice little earner for him. 400 million gallons of fresh water there plus other commodities. Nice spot for our American Jewish brothers. Only 20 miles from the Falklands

I’ve read this article. It makes for very interesting reading for what Lewis is upto. Seems like he’s creating a second Jewish military state and my some ethnic cleansing. But you don’t hear about this due to who his great friend is in the media.

Word of warning to Mr Levy, trying to block the Saudi Government is a risky business, you might get an invite to the Saudi Embassy …. you know what happens there!!???

There is a long list of reasons to morally object to this takeover, including the disgraceful totalitarian, misogynist state these people represent, and their accumulated petro-dollars killing the planet, plus the additional millions upon millions that will see even more snouts at the trough getting fat in this game.

However, one suspects none of these reasons is why Daniel Levy objects.

No CEO of any company would keep his position for over 20 years securing only 1 big contract. He is taking the piss and Enic think that’s acceptable. It’s time for all Spurs to fans to wake up and realise we are rotten from top to bottom. Even long standing club staff have left as they can’t stand the sight of levy. Get these f00kers out if our club!!!!

I feel that they do it from the shadows and don’t stand by their convictions is because, they know they’re wrong and are to embarrassed to openly admit it.

There is nothing wrong with changing your mind over time, for some it takes longer than others.

Levy for years has been slowly destroying the club and getting rid of managers, or not backing them as things turn good or before crucial moments.

I remember when he sacked George Graham a week or so before the FA cup semi against arsenal. Which we could have won as like Jose, George knew how to get results like that when needed.

Sacking Martin Jol at half time against Getafe in the UEFA Cup. Who got us within 90 minutes of Champions league football and got us into Europe near enough ever season he was in charge.

Selling Keane and Berbatov im the same transfer window in the summer of 2008, under Juande Ramos, the last manager to win us a trophy. Then replacing them with Frazier Campbell.

Sacking Harry after he didn’t get the England job. Levy was like you was going to go, so see ya. We as a club first experience Champions league football under him. Destroying inter at the lane and being the better team against AC over the 2 legs.

Not backing AVB and giving him 6 flops for Bale.

Not backing Poch after he begged public for the Levy to be brave and spend big, get quality players in to get us over that final hurdle.Do what Liverpool did with Klopp. Pochard got us into a Champions league final without signing any new players for 18 months. A league cup final losing to Jose. Second in the league behind Chelsea and we lost less games than them. Plus a semi finals defeat to Chelsea in the FA cup.

Sacks Jose a week before a final, which i believe we would have won because of financial purposes. Jose knew how to get into Pep’s head and beat him in important games.

Building a venue where football is bottom of the priority list. Trying to establish a London based NFL team and guarantee NFL money with foreign based competitive matches being played.

Plunging the club into hundreds of millions of £££ in debt, without putting his own money in for a venue he believes so much in.

This man does not care for Spurs just like the Glazers don’t care for united. They just had Fergie for constantly winning which kept their fans at bay for a bit. Levy is a parasite that slowly drains and kills it host. By the time his bank account is at his desired level the club will be worthless and we the fans will suffer the most from this.

Levy, Lewis and everyone and everything ENIC needs to go now.

Whoever it is, and we can all make an educated guess, should have the courage of his convictions and defend the indefensible. When I first started reading and contributing to this blog, there were plenty of Levy apologists on the site, but rather like the current supporters, they have finally starting to realise that Levy is a busted flush. It is not hyperbole to describe him as one of the most hated men in football. Things will only get worse. He has taken the supporters for mugs for a long time. “You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time”. Wise words from Abraham Lincoln.

When you think he can’t get any lower…..

Not satisfied with running our team into a successless , jam tomorrow, abyss, he wants to stop anyone else trying to compete.

Seriously embarrassing. Utter twonk.

Another team to bury him in their dust.

Levy wants £3.5b for Spurs. He wants £2.5b upfront then a further £1b later. He’s reasoning is because of the facilities and stadium, £1b to clear the stadium debt, which isn’t even he’s debt to pay off its the clubs.

Then split the other £1.5b between him and Joe then pocket a further £1b for nothing because he feels entitled to it. ENIC payed roughly £50million for Spurs in 2 payments. £22 million in 2000 and a further £25 million in 2007.

Plus whatever they payed for there 2% stake they previously had before 2000. So Levy wants a £3.45 billion profit for him and Joe.

Spurs are currently valued at around £1.5 billion. Typical Levy over valuing because of his land and economics degree, but he seems to have no understanding of how economics work.

So even if they sold for £1.5 billion ENIC still make £1.45 billion and still don’t have to worry about paying off the stadium.

Levy knows he’s chickens are coming home to roost. All these years penny pinching, stubbornness and poor decision making has cost him from anyone doing business with him until he realises how football economic works.

So I hope he’s so scared that it force his hand to be realistic and just sell up and have nothing more to do with our club.

An interesting and well thought out comment. As a Newcastle supporter I’m not clued up on what is going on at Spurs but this was interesting. I think there is muck all over the premiership and do believe some of the top clubs were active in hindering the Saudi takeover if NUFC. I laughed my pants off when John Hall was asked in an interview what he thought of the other clubs unhappy about it (the take over). He said (paraphrasing) “what the top six clubs who only thought of themselves when they wanted to split and form the European Super League. I’ve two words for them….Bugger Off.”.

Be afraid Daniel, be very afraid. Soon your name will echo around the new stadium but it will be for all the wrong reasons. Study what happened to Mike Ashley and dwell upon that as you count your millions, because you are far more unpopular than he could ever be. Mike Ashley was never lucky enough to have 2 world class managers working for him so he never got to make a complete fool of himself by sacking them both did he? What you did with Poch was unforgivable and short sighted in the extreme, what you did with Jose was plain suicidal and points to a grotesque lack of judgment on your part. A sackable offence if your boss wasn’t a cabbage on life support.
You are the smallest biggest failure in world football, if you get what I mean, and the bald fact is you are a loser, and nobody likes a loser, especially a miserly one who gets rich on other people woes. A parasite sucking the life blood out of a great football club. A bare faced liar “I will only appoint a manager that plays open attacking football”, just before appointing a manager whose previous job was managing the most boring team in the PL.
You have long lost control, nobody trusts you any more (if they ever did), nobody wants to manage your bunch of disillusioned players and rejects, and nobody wants to play for your team unless it’s as a stepping stone to get into England and play for a proper club. Now you’ve even managed to alienate our once world class striker who was one of our own and loved the club – just how do you manage it all Mr Levy?
If Spurs weren’t a London club you’d probably struggle to attract anyone half decent.People can see through the training ground and stadium as a glossy fake hiding a club on the plummet. A club that has only had one proper recognised striker for as far back as can be remembered because you always want to save money to the detriment of success.
We’re a club that buys cheap kids or rejects that nobodies else wants, a club that is terrified of lowly clubs competing for a player in a bidding war. This is a club that bought the likes of Waddle, Klinsmann and Lineker in living memory!
Perhaps worst of all you pretend to be a Spurs fan. That is the greatest insult of the lot. No real Spurs fan could have been guilty of the gross neglect and lack of ambition that you have been guilty of over the last 20 years. Mr Levy you only support one thing and that is your wage packet. It should be replaced by a P45.

Of course, he tried to lobby against the take over by the Saudis for Newcastle.
Firstly, NUFC was bought for £305 million, a realistic price, thereby devaluing Levy’s absurd valuation of THFC. Secondly, the sale of NUFC will provide further obstacles in Levy’s quest for a top four place without spending the commensurate money in the transfer market, which incidentally, NUFC can afford to do.
I have read some articles in the press today that Spurs fans travelling to the game tomorrow have been encouraged to throw fake money onto the pitch in some absurd protest to the take over of NUFC. If only the Spurs fans would show the same enthusiasm in protesting against Enic whose owner made more money from Black Monday than George Soros and whose less than philanthropic activities in Patagonia should be more widely examined. Are Lewis and Levy any better custodians of a football club than a repressive regime like Saudi Arabia? The jury is out on that one but what is for sure is that the new NUFC will concentrate on achieving success on the football pitch where it matters unlike the malevolent dwarf who runs our club. It saddens me to write this but having supported Spurs since 1962, for the first time in my life, I hope Newcastle thrash us tomorrow and that towards the end of the season that we are flirting with relegation as it is the only thing that might accelerate Enic’s exodus. I didn’t sign up to support an entertainment centre.
