The Tottenham Gareth Bale love affair could be heading for a quick divorce

By Bruce Grove -

Gareth Bale was hoping to get his career back on track when he left Real Madrid for Tottenham on loan in the last transfer window.

He had been struggling to play for the Spanish side and needed to leave them so that he could start playing much more often.

Spurs want to win a trophy this season, and they need all the top players that they can get which was why they moved for him.

When Spurs signed the Welshman, everyone thought that they had signed one of the best players in Europe, with a permanent move considered almost a given.

But he has struggled to play for them this season, and he hasn’t had the impact that some thought he would have.

Real had been hoping that he would have a good spell with Spurs so that the Lilywhites can make the move permanent.

But his performances for Spurs have yet to justify the loan fee and significant wages that the club has splashed out and continues to do so.

Spanish media outlet AS reckons that Spurs thought he would be as good as he was when he played for them especially between 2012 and 2013 but that hasn’t been the case.

The same report also claims that the Spanish giants are a little concerned about the prospect of Bale heading back to Spain.

Real Madrid may have to deal with the reality that Spurs might not keep him.

A gamble that is not paying off maybe he kicks on in the New year but I have a feeling he’s going to spend a lot of time on the injured list.

Perhaps a Modric loan deal might have worked!

Despite high expectations this “sentimental loan deal” was never likely to work out simply because Bale is a pale imitation of the player he was 7 years ago!!
