The reason Tottenham beat Manchester United to Gareth Bale revealed

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham beat Manchester United to the loan signing of Gareth Bale this summer because of the Red Devil’s hesitation to make the move reports the Daily Mail citing ESPN Transfer Podcast.

Bale had been linked with a move back to the Premier League this summer and Manchester United were favourites to land him.

The Red Devils want to sign former Manchester City attacker, Jadon Sancho and the report claims that they had told the Welshman that he will be one of their top priority targets if they miss out on the Englishman.

Bale was interested and waited on the former Premier League champions to come for him, however, while they delayed, Tottenham made their move and he decided not to wait for the Red Devils anymore.

Spurs have secured his services for this season on-loan as they continue their impressive summer recruitment drive.

They have also bolstered their team with the signing of Sergio Reguilon, Matt Doherty, Joe Hart and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Jose Mourinho has been appointed as the club’s manager in their bid to end their wait for silverware.

The Special One knows that he has one of the most talented squads in the Premier League at the moment and he will hope to land a trophy for the club soon.

Surprised this has found it’s way on to here, do you really think Gareth Bale would allow himself to be second choice to anyone ?

More decent golf courses around North London and it rains less! Seriously he’s a Spurs boy through and through, why would he want to play for those northerners under the hobbit?

Nah, fake news. He was always going to return to spurs. The DM and truth are not compatible

it’s somewhat disconcerting that after saying that he always wanted to come back to Spurs because the fans love him,he had intended to go to Utd. anyway, even to the point of accepting being second choice to Sancho.Who,incidentally,I happen to think is so over-rated and I’ve yet to see get hold of a game and dictate,if he is so good.
I hope we can allow Bale to flourish with us and not be injured as much as in the past.

The Daily Fail quoting a tale from ESPN FC which has a pro-Utd/ Liverpool bias. I can only think that this is aimed more at OGS as a criticism of Utd’s transfer window so far. Many non-Spurs fans are probably struggling to comprehend why Bale chose Spurs over Utd, especially as Utd has the Champions League, the “big” name, the trophies. But it’s quite simple – we have Mourinho and they used to.
