Europa League draw hands Tottenham a fairly decent group

By Bruce Grove -

It has been a tricky journey for Tottenham to navigate but they have made it through the Europa League qualifying stages and now know who they will face in the Group stage after the draw was made in Nyon, Switzerland at UEFA headquarters.

Despite having to go through qualifying, Tottenham was one of the seeded teams in pot one which meant that they would avoid any of the big boys in the competition including Roma, Napoli and Bayer Leverkusen.

The first team drawn to face the Lilywhites in Group J was PFC Ludogorets of Bulgaria, not exactly local but not too bad either. The second team drawn to face us was Lask of Austria, a nice little trip there and the final team drawn was Belgium outfit Royal Antwerp.

On the face of it, that is not a bad draw for Tottenham.

Well as we were recent CL finalists, and looking at how our squad has been improved since Mou “convinced” Levy to act like the chairman of a big club, we shouldn’t be frightened of anyone.

They’ll be less pleased with their draw than we are!

The (long and winding) Road to Gdansk. It only really gets interesting when the CL flops get jettisoned. Personally, I wish they would stop allowing the CL drop-outs into the Ropey.
