“The problem they’ve got is … ” Sky Pundit gives a reason Tottenham needs to sign this Serie A goal machine

By Bruce Grove -

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge believes Tottenham needs an alternative attacker to reduce their reliance on Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Both attackers have carried Spurs over the last few seasons and they remain two of the best in the Premier League right now.

However, every top club in England and Europe has suitable alternatives to players in several positions.

Spurs has options in some positions in the team, but Kane is the only senior striker at Antonio Conte’s disposal.

Reports have linked the Lilywhites with a move for Dusan Vlahovic, and Bridge admits he is one of the best alternatives to Kane they can sign.

He told Give Me Sport: “What if Kane gets injured? We know Kane gets injured and he gets them a lot after Christmas, his ankles go. Sonny, he goes to Korea a lot and he comes back and gets injured, or he takes time to get back to that level.

“Put Son on the bench for a few games, put Kane on the bench for a few games. The problem they’ve got is, they do not have an alternative and he (Vlahovic) is a top class alternative.”

The Boy Hotspur Says

As Bridge points out, an injury to Kane in any season will almost put the club back to square one.

Conte is experienced enough to lead the team back inside the top four, but he needs resources to achieve that.

Dane Scarlett is currently the main alternative to Kane, although Son can play as a centre-forward. Spurs need another striker.

It will be tough to sign Vlahovic mid-season, but the Serbian would be a solid signing for the club at the end of this campaign.

If he joins and Kane stays then Spurs could have one of the most potent attacking forces in the whole of Europe.
