The Daily Spurs Reel: Stop Tottenham protests, and let fans ‘kick ENIC where it counts’

Another tragic transfer window, as all too many predicted – what was the net result? A ‘meh’ singing of Conor Gallagher and some bright young thing from Hearts in Scotland.

The transfer of Conor was completed in mid-January 2026 from Atlético Madrid for a reported fee of around £34-35 million, with the 25-year-old England international penning a long-term deal until 2031.

Spurs fended off competition from Aston Villa, who were interested in a loan-to-buy option, and the move came after Gallagher struggled for consistent minutes in Spain following his 2024 switch from Chelsea. This was a target that had been in the pending file at Tottenham for a number of seasons.

Will Gallagher be enough? is a question only being asked as the window was such a washout. Ideally, he would have been one of many to boost a situation described accurately by our captain as ‘disgraceful’.

This season has seen the THST overtaken in the publicity stakes at least by another group of unhappy souls, Change For Tottenham. Change for Tottenham is a Tottenham Hotspur supporters’ group advocating for significant changes at the club, primarily targeting the ownership structure, board decisions, transfer strategy, and overall direction under ENIC.

Crucially, this lot shares the THST model of seeking to negotiate with the THFC board, which I suggest is, regrettably, implausible at this stage.

The recent demonstration, a planned walk out ion the 75th minute, appeared not to work, and videos emerged online of empty walkways where angry fans were supposed to have gathered.

The huge elephant in the room with this type of alleged protest is that you finish waving your bedsheets with ‘Down with this sorry of thing’ about, and then file into the ENIC-owned bars and eateries to carry on spending. It makes not a jot of sense.

Whilst nobody wants to get arrested, the only credible alternative is to hit ENIC where it hurts. After all, they are an investment company.

Football fans have some form when it comes to throwing harmless things onto pitches to disrupt games, from tennis balls to till rolls in Ireland; they hurled pies at Elland Road, and even a pig’s head was used on at least one occasion.

Flash mobs, where people congregate to form a human blockage to events, have proved effective, and the sense of mischief that all of this disorder is bound to attract favourable attention press attention.

In short, stop trying to stop capitalism, nobody likes a Marxist, and disrupt what ENIC are doing to the club. Or don’t. The choice is yours.
