Problematic Tweet emerges from THST co-chair who blasted fans for Anfield chant

This is the problem with taking the moral high ground. Most of us don’t profess to know best. Nor do we inflict our guidelines for a better existence on others. Most of us make mistakes as we live our lives and just hope to become better people as life goes on. That’s how ordinary folk roll, don’t they?

One of many the problems with the Tottenham Supporter’s Trust is that they appear incapable of not telling people what to do.

The Trust’s last bold move was to call for the Spurs board to resign. This is a pretty ambitious move for an organisation that, despite a swelling membership, was never actually given a democratic mandate by the millions of THFC fans around the world.

Then, this week, they decided to rule on a chant from our fans, which they decided was bad. I covered the patronizing and deeply flawed thinking of that stunt here, yesterday.

In a comedic twist, that nobody could have predicted, it was then discovered that Katrina Law, a co-host of the Trust had made a Tweet a decade ago denigrating the very people she was lambasting fans who sang the ‘Sign on’ chant at Anfield, last weekend.

The reaction to this by fans was mixed. Some were entirely relaxed about the situation, and some were reveling in the hypocrisy.

In a moment of frenzied denial, fellow co-chair of the Trust Martin Cloake squealed ‘Photoshop!’ …which, of course, it wasn’t.

Yesterday, an apology of sorts was issued. But describing the fan reaction ‘as a bit of Twitter noise’, set the tone…

The language was hardly contrite… ‘I’m not proud of anything I may have posted of this nature’… We are then told about a journey of enlightenment that Ms. Law has undertaken.

For me, this type of online ambulance chasing is pretty pathetic, however, if you set yourself up as being better than others you deserve all the discomfort you get.

And remember kids, if anything deemed to be unsavoury about you ever comes up, the phrase that pays is, ‘society has changed and so have I’.

We asked Law and Cloake if they wanted a right of reply and didn't get a response

Yes totally mental. They’ll go so far down this road that they’ll lose the map and forget what led them there in the first place. Looks like they already have.

This idea that we live in a more ‘compassionate’ world just because of political correctness always has been the biggest pile of cr*p. It just makes a section of the entitled bourgeois feel better about themselves, and nothing more.

The world is as cruel as it’s ever been, if not worse, but it just hides behind a facade of virtue signaling…

She could have stood by her guns and said that it was just ‘terrace banter’ and taken within that context it wasn’t anything to get worked up about. Oh but wait, she’s a hypocrite with a short memory since she joined the THST… 😂

There will always be those who are offended my friend. There are three things in life we can be sure of: Death, taxes, and people who get offended.
Incidentally, I just watched two clips from Good Morning Britain – I don’t watch it in real time – of a man who identifies as a broccoli, and an ‘age-fluid’ german who wants to legally change his age from 69 to 42. Interestingly Mr Broccoli appears to be comfortable using He/Him pronouns, even though he’s a vegetable.
In these clips, it appeared the only people getting offended were Piers Moron and the bird next to him.
GMB. Quality morning viewing.

Honestly, the more I think about this the more mental these people appear. This cannot be taken in isolation, woke calls for chanting to be respectful, chiming in on the Y word, and most worryingly, extremely emotional open letters calling for preposterous resignations at privately owned businesses.

These people simply do not understand the game they are playing. They are clearly not board level executives with any modicum of political skill. They are Joe Nobody, thinking they can throw their weight around like aggrieved trade unionists because their cronies decided they could have a bit of faux power in an organisation with about as much point as a chocolate teapot.

(No offence to chocolate teapots intended)

Spot on. Ideally someone bothered about the stuff cancels the lot of them!

Lol – I do love a bit of hypocrisy, I would wager every single member of that board has sung naughty songs “when they were young”, I’m disappointed she’s the only one to have tweeted it!

Trying to tell 50,000 boozed up supporters what they can and can’t sing is utterly mind boggling.

And that guy coming out with the photoshop claim… It is a play straight out of the Donald Trump book of fake news!

Twitter life.. The trust is literally a non entity.. They are a non profit setup, they raise little funds while claiming they are fundraisers.. They are a few out of touch fans (like this bird) who wish they were important in the game..

Hallelujah, praise be to she/her.
She/her saw the light 9 years ago and left the great unwashed.
Because the unwashed would write that type of stuff,
But she/her has seen the light
Lets repent broken ways.
Even the Scouse have forgiven*
Follow she/her ways, rise up from those depths.
Hallelujah

*no evidence the liverpool supporter union were bothered in the first place.
+ I apologise if i have used the wrong pronouns as well and have caused any unintended offence.

Not defending her, or them, but people can change and evolve. They can understand that what they thought was a good idea at 21 may not feel like one at 31. How you speak to people, how you think of people changes through exposure. This dragging up of this tweet is cancel culture bullS—

Much like telling football fans that banter is not ok.

Hoisted on her own Petard…hahaha…nothing against Martin Cloake personally but how do you become the person who wrote a considerable part of the epic Opus of a few years ago without being in with the club.
THST which did good work to begin with has become an irrelevance to everyone but themselves..

Though it’s amazing how the pond life do slither away and carry on, most of the time unashamedly.

Loathsome. What a joke they claim to represent Spurs fans. Our club is truly lost on so many fronts. 20 years of apologizing for Levy while he bulldozed our home.

That little worm Cloake ought to be apologising after incorrectly accusing someone of using Photoshop to do a fake tweet.

I am guilty as charged I always refer to them as Bindip FC it goes back decades and I hate spelling teams (and supporters) I loathe correctly. All the stories you hear about them are basically true even the bit in the film (Football Factory?) “meet Stanley” and that “ere mate you got the time” I heard that one up there not me fortunately.
It is not that they are pondlife it is their hard done by entitled attitude it sickens me. While the blood on their hands of Heysel never gets mentioned.
I have absolutely no time for Citeh or Urinal but they dont rile me like that load of plankton do.

Busted flush. Unfortunately just one of the fast-growing members of ‘generation offended’.
Frankly I’m surprised anybody goes to comedy shows anymore.
I’m an Irishman, and I’ve walked into a bar with Scotsmen and Englishmen and made a cok out of myself on many many occasions. I had a laugh, threw up, and forgot about it.

This is so typical of today’s sanctimonious woke crowd.I don’t believe a word of this apology it has the hallmarks of a hastily written piece from a retreating PR department.Nothing to see here move on.

To use a popular internet phrase of our modern times, I Lolled at this! 🤣 She apologises for sentiments she aired ‘a decade ago’ like a decade ago was in the 60’s. Her Twitter post wasn’t made when Bernard Manning and Freddie Starr were spouting off their popular-at-the-time brand of comedy. I have pants in my top drawer that I was wearing when Kat made those remarks.
But she’s sorry, so that’s ok.
