“The change in manager would have helped them” Spurs tipped to land Chelsea star for free

By Bruce Grove -

Transfer insider, Dean Jones has tipped Tottenham to make the surprising signing of Chelsea defender, Antonio Rudiger.

The German is out of a contract at the end of this season and he has been in talks with the Blues over an extension.

The talks aren’t necessarily making progress and several clubs have been linked with a move for him.

Jones believes the appointment of Antonio Conte makes Spurs one of the clubs that can sign him.

Jones told GiveMeSport: “I think Tottenham are willing to really push the boat out to get Rudiger.

“I think the change in manager would have helped them turn his head a little bit.

“But Rudiger knows he’s basically got a pick of the teams when it comes to when his contract’s up.”

The Boy Hotspur says

Players rarely swap Spurs for Chelsea and vice versa, which makes this transfer unlikely.

Even if there could be an exception to that, Rudiger shouldn’t be the Chelsea player who joins Tottenham.

The defender has a poor relationship with the Spurs fans for a previous clash, and he would certainly not be welcomed at the club by a good number of fans.

He had accused them falsely of racially abusing him and that isn’t the type of allegation that gets forgiven easily.

We beat them in revenue now which is a start.. Now we have to be clever like Liverpool and use the money wisely. Scout and sign the right players.. I believe we will. Otherwise Conte and Patrici wouldn’t be there.

Ah good point I didn’t realise that. This makes him worth going for (if Conte wants him)… Still I don’t rate Rudiger very high, he’s 28 now and in his prime. If he was brilliant then the Chavs would be offering him a new contract.

Who wouldn’t love Kante? But Rudiger is out of contract, so he would be a free transfer, wouldn’t he?

Not a fan of Rudiger here. 35 million odd too, he’s not cheap.. Would love Kante from the Chavski though.
