“That passion has been missing for years” Tottenham fans just love this reaction from Conte

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham beat Leeds United this afternoon in a game that was the classic game of two halves and the nature of the win brought out some very passionate scenes from Antonio Conte at the full-time whistle.

Conte is renowned for his passion and it was certainly on full display this afternoon, he was running up and down the touchline urging the players on, harassing the officials and calling on the fans to get behind the team.

Once Andre Mariner blew his whistle to confirm a 2-1 win Conte was in full flow as you can see from the video below and the reaction from a number of Spurs fans shows that it was very appreciated and what has been missing for the last few years.

It may have been against a depleted Leeds team but when you have gone over four hours without a shot on target and are one down at half time it is more relief than anything else and Conte deserves to celebrate like that and Spurs fans deserve to see it.

Very possible that If Conte gets a ‘top 4’ tune out of this lot, then there will be very little spending…

100% agree. The leopard thought he was smarter than everyone else and has backed himself into such a tight corner that he has nowhere left to go. He has to squirm before he opens the chequebook even for a top quality coach, I hope the rest of his time at Spurs is spent squirming. When he’s calling all the shots we are a dysfunctional, micromanaged mess…

We won the 2nd half, hands down. It’s game of two halves…

He’s got that fire in his belly, an ability to work with his players and impart a philosophy, physically, mentally and in the way they play. The last manager we had of that ilk wasn’t backed, there are no quick fixes to success at the top level in football.

It’s no longer possible to expect the modern day player to run themselves into the ground for the cause on the basis they’re earning loads of money to do so. That ship has sailed, the most successful coaches Pep, Klopp, Conte, Tuchel (and dare I say it Poch) these days never let up with their passion, and the infectious nature of it gets these multi millionaire players off their backsides to go the extra mile.

Huge difference in the way between this guy works and Nuno and Jose, a totally different approach…

Our next five fixtures read: Burnley, Brentford, Norwich, Brighton, Leicester. My fear is that getting wins in these games might be just the excuse for Levy to say “well we’re on a roll, so why do you need signings?”

Really hope I’m wrong and this time, the manager gets backed.

Good to see the passion from Conte but we struggled through against a depleted Leeds; we will need to do plenty of spending in future windows but Levy is probably looking for ANY signs that we don’t need to!

I think the boos at halftime were right. The fan base feels its behind Conte esp him getting them going near the end. Conte keeps the fans on his side he may have the influence to change things up

It is like having an extra man on the touchline. He dragged this bunch of misfits over the line today with his raw energy and passion. He is the absolute antithesis of Levy and ENIC’s soulless and grey ownership. Levy has backed himself into a corner with this appointment because if he does not back Conte he will never recover from such a decision with the supporters. No amount of Levy spin will polish such an act of betrayal. This is the end game for ENIC. There is no option now but for the leopard to change its spots if it seeks to survive.
