Tenacious E: Lamela’s Best Moments Against Boro [video]

By The Boy -

Erik Lamela has had more false starts that Monty Python’s 100 Yards Dash For People With No Sense Of Direction. Plagued with injury, one of Tottenham’s most expensive signings, the boy has been a perpetual ‘nearly man’.

The goal that came from nothing, other than desire. Can we watch you every week?

Then there was this recovery moment that took back possession, and it was ultimately Lamela who then created the attacking move.

Middlesbrough kicked off and were in possession for a whole 9 seconds, before the Argentinian retrieved the ball and put Spurs into attack mode.

That was the problem, too smaller squad of good players. Harry never got a rest.

Everyone stopped running as much as before because like poch they were becoming disillusioned with the club and hierarchy. Once the heart and head goes thats it.. Just look at eriksen.

Under poch we supposedly did when we were winning.. He trained hard.. I’m a great believer of hard training.. It has to be implemented right though with decent rest etc.

Liverpool have used 22 players about the same as us. They have 16 different goalscorers alone.. The huge difference is their strength in depth, decent cover, they can afford and they do rest their best players.. You often see mane salah firminho rested. They look after their stars. They have loads of good midfielders. Centre mid alone they got fabinho keita, lallana and the ox they are both regular crocks though, henderson, milner. There is always cover. Firminho gets injured then origi steps up.. Kane gets injured, noone to step up. Noone to rest him in the first place so loads of physical and mental pressure. Liverpool have alot of quality unlike our 10 or 11 quality players, they have more like 18 or 19. Their bench and B team would smash ours.

Hope the new guy works. But Liverpool have used basically the same 16 players, over 5 competitions this year, and they press every game from first to last. They have been doing this for years now. Unlike us they start quickly and don’t run out of steam after half an hour. Remember when we pressed, remember when we won games in the last ten minutes with late goals. All that is long gone. What I do find curious about Liverpool is that the player who seems to be most often injured is Oxlade – Chamberlain who is not a Liverpool bred player. It makes me think anyway. And I could have added Adam Lallana, another non Liverpool bred.

Carlos Lalin is our new head fitness coach under maureen. So that did change immediately.. The scouse still pick up loads of injuries, they had a few returning or still injured when they beat us. Difference is they have quality cover… Good to see coco back, and tanganga was a revelation, but we still need strengthening. I dont think we have the most unfit squad, but it’s a small squad so take away 3 plus key players to injury then we struggle.. If the scouse or city have 3 or 4 or 5 injuries then they replace with quality.. We need to get another striker or play parrot.. Or both…. Man someone reminded me on here of the redknapp days and we were blessed with option up top… Crouchy scoring a hat trick one week, then next game dropped for robbie keane who scores four goals. All the while defoe banging in them in constantly… Kane would do far better if we had more decent strikers to compliment him on the pitch, and cover for him when needed.

I thought we were meant to have one of the fittest squads around?

Sanchez wants to get a grip pretty quick. Maybe he was ill, but his positional sense, his body shape, his judgment of the flight of the ball, his general carelessness, swishing and slashing wildly at balls was shocking.

Here’s hoping, but not holding my breath.

He can’t stay fit, and with the demands made by a small squad I can’t see him staying fit for an extended period of time, maybe three months. Plus he won’t be helped by the general uselessness of Spurs fitness regime/ medical regime.
Klopp cleaned out the fitness /medical dept at Liverpool, because of the injury list. We should do the same. We must have the most unfit squad in the Premier League.

Would be lovely if this guy stays fit now for an extended period. Besides the tenacity and desire he has good vision, a few tricks and is never afraid to try something. There must also be a lot of football left in those legs after all the time out. A Lamela autumn could be something special to behold!
