Tanguy Ndombele’s 7 Deadly Dribbles vs Shkendija

By The Boy -

Tanguy Ndombele doesn’t inspire confidence when he’s off the ball. You’ll have seen people walk away from road traffic accidents with greater ease and grace. When the 23-year-old is on the ball, there’s also a frequently strained physical edge to him, but quality of thought that rattles through his footballing brain is the decider. This is a player, along with Giovani Lo Celso that Tottenham have been looking for, since bits began falling off of Mousa Dombele, all those seasons ago.

In my earlier post I warned against drawing too many deep conclusions from this competitions’ games, and whilst I stand by that, the fact that Tanguy managed to complete 93 minutes against Shkendija (without any tape on his leg for the first time this season), is a reason to be cheerful.

Spurs next game is on Sunday, at home to Newcastle United, who could be just what the doctor ordered, having won just one game in their last 5.

Tanguy and Gio alone were over 100 mil. Add Gedson Fernandes and thats another 50 million. Horrible business….. Considering we got Reguilon, Docherty and bale in for around 50 mil it has been one extreme to another. Add Hojberg then 65 million odd is great business this window. Each and every signing walks into the firsts.

Over 18 months since Dembele left and still our midfield is a shadow of what it was. We do moneyball the wrong way. We sign 3 players to do one man’s job, but all 3 (Lo Celso, Tanguy and Hojbjerg) are still behind the one! What was the cost for them, over £100m? Levy is a fool.

Love him too. Going to be a legend that lad. Can’t wait to see a team including Tanganga, Bale, Reg and N’dombele all moving together like quicksilver.

The thing I like about him is the ability to make a sharp, angular pass behind him when he faces our own goal. That is a gift which enhances our forward breaks and somewhat reminiscent of the Great Moussa.

Winks and Sissoko are liabilities at the moment. Winks is a tempo destroyer and seems unable to play any attacking passes of consequence, sideways, back rinse and repeat. N’Dombele looking good though, one hell of a player there with great potential.

What is beginning to become clear is that he is looking for a FORWARD pass most of the time, something that Winks lacks.

Tanguy reminds me a little of Kovacic at Chelsea, forward passer, looks to play the incisive pass. He will get better as his confidence grows. Ok he’s not a speed merchant by the looks of things but neither was Moussa.

Prime Moussa Dembele would have bullied Tanguy and Gio.

He is definitely trying. (very trying)…… It seems some of our lads are trying too hard. A bit too tense. A bit stiff. Lacking in confidence…. We needed to bring Kane on to do the job which was not good. We should have smashed them, they were rubbish….. Tanguy, nice to see him running a bit now, but still… He cost more than that whole team put together.
