Paul Robinson says Tottenham will need at least two new strikers if Harry Kane leaves the club this summer.
Kane has been tipped to join Manchester City or Manchester United in this transfer window after asking to leave Tottenham.
The England captain has not enjoyed not winning trophies at his boyhood club even though he has continued scoring goals regularly for them.
The attacker is now set to join another club that can meet Tottenham’s asking price for his signature.
Eurosport claimed earlier that Tottenham is eyeing a move for Southampton striker, Danny Ings.
He is one of England’s best forwards and has entered the last year of his current deal.
He would be a great addition to the current Tottenham squad and he might come in if Kane leaves.
Ings alone cannot replace Kane and Robinson reckons that Spurs might add at least two strikers to their squad if he is sold.
He said to Football Insider:
“If Kane is to leave they will need two strikers in.
“Who comes in all depends on how the Kane deal is structured if he leaves. United or City may offer a player in exchange for Kane as well as the money.
“They might even sign three senior ones if Kane goes, depending on how Nuno sets them up next season. Ings could be one that we see done at the end of the window.
“A lot of Spurs’ activity in the market will be dependant on Kane’s future. The ideal situation would be Ings coming in and Kane staying.”
Think it is clever from Nuno as it seems he’s been quoted as saying he may play with multiple forwards up front – means you don’t have to ‘guarantee’ starts in that one forward position.
