Spurs targeting a move for Premier League ace in contract standoff

By Bruce Grove -

Spurs are lining up a move for Southampton striker, Danny Ings ahead of the next transfer window.

Since making the move to the South Coast from Liverpool, Ings has emerged as one of the best strikers in England.

He was supposed to sign a new deal at the end of last year, but he has stalled on making that decision, and Eurosports claims that Tottenham is now monitoring his situation.

The striker was one of the Lilywhites’ targets in the last transfer window, but he wasn’t looking to leave The Saints, and Spurs landed Carlos Vinicius on loan from Benfica instead.

If Ings becomes available in the next transfer window, Spurs will probably pursue a move for him instead of keeping Vinicius permanently.

Ings, 28, scored 22 Premier League goals last season, and he has already scored 7 in just 13 league matches in this campaign.

Harry Kane will remain Tottenham’s main striker, and his fine form in this campaign has seen Vinicius struggle to see any minute of Premier League action.

Ings has the Premier League experience to break into a top side, but it remains to be seen if he would want to make the move, knowing full well that he would only be second-fiddle to Kane at Tottenham.

Instead wouldn’t be playing second fiddle to Kane, he would play alongside him.
