“In the end it is an easy decision” Former Spurs man reckons Bale decision is obvious

By Bruce Grove -

Gareth Bale’s loan return to Tottenham has not worked out and Tottenham should send him back to Real Madrid, reckons Dimitar Berbatov.

Bale made the return to the Lilywhites in the last summer transfer window after having a tough couple of years in Madrid.

But he hasn’t shown the form that Spurs expected from him, and he is currently struggling to start for them in the Premier League.

Berbatov admits that he had expected Bale to help Tottenham build a solid trio of attacking players alongside Harry Kane and Son Heung-min when he first joined the club.

However, that hasn’t worked and if things don’t change, then it’s an easy decision, Spurs will have to send him back to Madrid.

He told Stats Perform: “I was expecting a lot of him coming to Spurs, to shake things up and for him, Son and Kane to make it a trio up front that can rival the Liverpool attacking trio, for example.

“For the moment it is 100 per cent not working. Hopefully he can get back to 100 per cent and start playing.

“If not, in the end it is an easy decision – he can go back to Madrid.

“Whatever the reason [for his lack of games], Gareth Bale is injury free now because he’s on the bench for the team.

“But he’s not playing from the first minute so it means that obviously he’s not producing the right level of football Jose Mourinho wants from him, which is a shame because I like him a lot.”

Bale is still under contract with the Spanish champions, but the hope is that he would play well enough to earn a permanent deal at Spurs.

He still has the time to achieve that, but he needs to start delivering as soon as he can.

Bale has scored and provided several assists in his limited outings.Thats more than Bergwijn has to date although I get that Bergwijn covers more ground. Also having Bale on and upfront down the middle may hold opposing defences deeper into their own half’s. I would like to see Bale play alongside Kane and Son for a run of games to see if they can work together as a trio before saying it has not worked bringing him back

He’s played so little, it’s difficult to say if he’s still a top player or not. Surely he hasn’t become that bad all of a sudden, his appearances for Wales have shown that he isn’t so unfit that he can’t even run in a straight line.

All very strange this…
