Spurs Prepared To Offer 27-Year-Old £200,000 A Week, But It May Not Be Enough

By Joe Fish -

Tottenham are reportedly willing to make Philippe Coutinho the club’s joint-highest player to sign him on loan from Barcelona this summer.

The 27-year-old playmaker has spent this season at Bayern Munich but is expected to be back on the market in the next transfer window after the Bundesliga giants chose not to pursue a permanent deal for him.

The Express claims that we are prepared to go to “great lengths” to secure the former Liverpool midfielder, including putting him alongside Harry Kane at the top of our wage structure by paying him £200,000 per week.

However, that may not be enough to get a deal done as the report adds that Barcelona would want any suitor to pay Coutinho’s full £250,000 salary.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are all said to be interested in the Brazilian, so somebody will be lavish enough to go all the way if we don’t.

Make this happen. If you want top players you need to pay top dollar.

He’s a good player and could do a job for us,but not at those figures.Barca had their pants pulled down watching him play in a system at Liverpool that suited him. They paid him his salary and he could end up like Bale just seeing out his contract before being released into the world where his demands are no longer met.

Pay it. (With option to buy) that boy can make a difference. Proper make things happen baller. Need players behind him to protect and serve though. He’ll get double figure goals at Tottenham. He’ll come and love it here. Will keep dele on his toes too

Cannot see this happening. Yes he’s a great player but we surely have other priorities. Spending in this area if the field just doesn’t make sense to me. The defence needs an overhaul, we also need a striker. Once that’s done, maybe we can look at improving on the attacking midfield department.

Man Utd only had to give Bruno Fernandes half them wages why would Spurs even contemplate paying crazy money, they should have learned from N’Dombele,£200,000 per week is a joke. Thank god Joe Fish isn’t in charge of finances at Spurs.

I know he’s talented but something about this whole deal just doesn’t ring true, what do Barcelona and Bayern know that we don’t. If we could swap him for Moura I’d do it though, I think we’ve seen the best of Moura and hattrick aside he’s just not consistent enough.

If you pay him £250,000 per week Harry will want an increase from his £200,000,Coutinho is not worth it Barcelona and Bayern Munich know this.He is a lightweight like Eriksen and not worth paying the £10m loan fee,or £70m in a years time.
