Spurs players cannot understand Mourinho’s Bale decision

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham players are surprised that Jose Mourinho hasn’t been playing Gareth Bale more often, according to ESPN.

The Welshman joined Spurs in the summer as a quality addition to their squad.

He was expected to be a top player for them once again and drive them to success as he did before leaving them for Real Madrid in 2013.

He returned to London with an injury and was given time to heal before he started playing for the team.

He has, however, not been featuring for the club as much as he would have wanted and his teammates wonder why.

The report says that he has impressed them in training and they feel that he should be more involved.

Bale has just returned from an injury and played some minutes in Spurs’ 5-0 win over Marine in the FA Cup.

However, he was unused again in their next game against Fulham in the Premier League.

He has just one start in the league this season and has a goal to show for his four appearances overall in the competition.

At this level of contribution, it makes no sense for Tottenham to make his loan deal permanent. He is expected to contribute more in this second half of the season.

Bale scored the winner at BRIGHTON when he came on, to show he can make an impact, and set up the game at Stoke where we could have lost.
He has shown enough to prove he can offer as a goal threat, yet he is overlooked because all that matters is clean sheets.

Simply put it’s been a bad decision which ideally probably would have proved more productive had Modric headed to Spurs on loan rather than Bale.
C’est la vie!

No No No your not supposed to question the tactical nous, I do wonder what Bale has done wrong not to be featuring though.

Naively I looked at it purely from a footballing perspective!

Unfortunately Bruce he’s contributed almost nothing so far, I see no reason to believe that will change.

Mourinho was asked what needs to change going forward to avoid such an outcome. [Against Fulham]
“We need to score the goals that we can and we need not to make mistakes that punish us,” he said.
“If you compare [Fulham goalkeeper Alphonse] Areola’s moments to Hugo [Lloris’] moments. Areola made a couple of impossible saves that could have killed the match. Also the post, then a defensive mistake and a goal.
“It looks complicated but it is really simple, a basic analysis of the game. I’m the first one that digs very deep to understand what my team has to improve.
“But going to the basics: you score goals you kill matches, you don’t score goals, if you don’t make mistakes you win. If you make defensive mistakes, you can be punished.”

Neatly deflecting any justifiable criticism of himself, hang on what about Jose’s lack of tactical nous not make triple subs at HT or 10 mins into the second half when Fulham were the dominant side before their predictable equaliser which we could all see coming long before it arrived!!
