Spurs looking to sweeten deal to persuade Championship side to sell target

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham is looking to add some players in their bid to land Joe Rodon this weekend, Football Insider reports.

The Lilywhites have been in talks to sign the defender since the International transfer deadline day.

They turned their attention towards the young Welsh defender after they failed in their bid to sign Milan Skriniar.

Rodon, 22, has emerged as one of the best defenders in the English Championship and he has been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time now.

West Ham and Leicester City are two other Premier League sides that have been linked with a move for him in this transfer window.

The report claims that Spurs are looking to complete the transfer by Friday in a deal that should cost them around £15 million, but this will not be just cash.

They are looking to add a few players in their offer for him. Spurs have signed some players in this transfer window and that means they now have a swollen squad that does need slimming down a little.

These players might be added to the move if Swansea is interested and one name that the report adds is that of Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The centre-back has no future at Spurs and the club has already told him to look for a new team.

In the present circumstances most clubs will prefer cold hard cash and not some clubs cast offs.
