Spurs insider reveals Daniel Levy’s January transfer plans after UCL knockout stages qualification

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham insider Alasdair Gold, has provided an update on how he believes the club’s transfer business will unfold in the upcoming January window.

Spurs are expected to back Antonio Conte as he seeks to improve the areas in his team that he believes are lacking, as well as to upgrade a couple of positions.

With Spurs having qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League, the club will reportedly make funds available for a couple of signings.

Conte has emphasised that it will take a couple of transfer windows before he can get the group of players that he would like. January transfer windows are not easy to attract big names but they did make two very shrewd signings in Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur last year, two players who have been absolutely phenomenal for Conte.

Gold has now stated that the club will once again be looking to target quality incomings in January. He said on his YouTube channel:

“From what I understand, the January transfer window is going to be purely focused on that quality side.

“So as a whole, they don’t really want a bloated squad. They don’t want more than they’ve currently got, which is roughly two for each position apart from right wing-back, where there’s about 75 players that can play there. And still Ivan Perisic plays there…

“Now it’s about changing the pieces and saying, we’ve got two people in that position but we could let one of them go and we could try and upgrade them. And that’s what it’s about.”

There are certain areas in the Spurs team that need immediate addressing. The right wing-back position, the centre-back position, and an attacking midfielder.

Spurs may be able to sign James Maddison in January, who might not want to stay at a struggling Leicester City, which appears to be fighting for survival this season. He would, however, cost them £60million and could be facing competition from Newcastle and Arsenal.

Much will depend on Leicester’s willingness to sell mid-season and Daniel Levy’s willingness to spend big money on the England international.

Why is Gold an ‘insider and why has nobody explained what makes him an insider? He’s a paid up peddler of the ENIC spun myths around the running of the football. Nothing more nothing less.

When he said recently that Spence was “100 percent a Conte player” it was pretty obvious to see exactly what his remit is, to be a peddler of half truths and untruths.

If it comes from an Insider, then I am happy, being an Outsider.

This article makes no sense. It begins by implying that several players are expected to come in to fill or replace areas that Conte feels need strengthening. Then it says money will be available for just a couple of
signings.

Kulu has not been paid for yet with the idea that we will buy him in the summer. But if things go pear shaped and as usual we end up winning nothing,Conte will be off and quite probably he will want Kulu to remain with Juve.

No doubt the ENIC PR machine will try to kid the gullible amongst us that there will be another warchest available in January and Levy will try to force another couple of cheap punts on Conre again. All our current problems are at the door of one person,Levy.
