Spurs fans will love Antonio Conte’s ruthless “kill” comments after Vitesse win

By Mark Brus -

Tottenham fans will love the comments made by new manager Antonio Conte after the 3-2 win over Vitesse.

It was a crazy game that saw Spurs race into an early 3-0 lead, only for their Dutch opponents to pull two goals back before half time.

Conte’s side managed to hold on to a win for the Italian tactician’s first match in charge, and Vitesse did themselves no favours as they saw two players sent off late on, though Cristian Romero also saw red for Spurs.

It’s clear afterwards that Conte was not entirely satisfied with what he saw, calling it a “crazy” game and lamenting his players’ inability to “kill” their opponents…

This is the kind of mentality Spurs fans will want to see from their manager after the difficult period under the uninspiring Nuno Espirito Santo.

Conte was his usual animated self on the touchline during Thursday night’s game, and hopefully the team will soon look more like the kind of solid sides we’ve seen him put together before at Chelsea and Inter Milan.

It is actually quite difficult to comprehend, especially after the farcical summer search for anyone remotely interested in taking the job and Nuno’s ultimately doomed four months in charge.

Something just doesn’t feel quite right about the whole thing. Unless of course Levy has changed his spots, which I find highly unlikely…

I’m still having to pinch myself that he’s our gaffer tbh.
