Tottenham has been handed a transfer boost with news claiming that Manchester United cannot afford Harry Kane this summer.
Kane has asked Spurs to allow him to leave when a suitable offer comes in.
The Englishman has decided to leave in search of team honours and United have always been keen to sign him.
They are facing competition from Manchester City, but they might be set to miss out on his signature to their neighbours.
This has been a tough last 12 months for football clubs around the world and it will invariably affect how teams spend money in the next transfer window.
The Athletic says United is targeting a top signing and they are in talks to bring back Cristiano Ronaldo in a sensational move.
However, they have told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he has to forget about managing Kane next season because the striker is unaffordable to them.
Spurs would hardly want to sell Kane to a Premier League rival and if that happens, his next team will have to pay a premium.
The report says Daniel Levy is asking for around £120m to allow Kane to leave and that fee might be too much for United to pay.
With the Red Devils out of the way, City is the other team that can sign him and if they also decide that he is too expensive, then Spurs will keep their man and try to win a trophy with him next season.

Kames interview is surprisingly pretty good. He wants to win, and he’s actually given Levy an option. Persuade me we can Challenge next season (ie spend 180m on 3 players and top mamager) or sell me if an offer comes in of say 100m plus.no heavy demands but a clear no bs straight position of where he’s at.
Levy’s style of running a football club is a gift to a mid table club with a modest budget (buy low it’s all we got sell high pity us we ain’t got much) but for a top 6 club it’s a curse no one will pity us no one will want to sell low and it will just get worse step back from footballing activities and give us 1 less reason to hate you
Plain as the nose on your face.
“It’s California or bust”
Harry wont be wearing red.
Liars always get found out. I sussed Levy out over a decade ago and got laughed at. They ain’t laughing now.
Please City come in and save the lad from any more lies from Levy. I so want to see Kane holding a trophy aloft and he won’t ever do that in a Spurs shirt.
If City decides he is too expensive. I’ll have a whip round then for them.
It’s not you who needs them.
So Kane could stay Levy assures him that a great manager will be in place and be given £200m plus sales to create a team of attacking football where we win trophies with style
I’ll take my meds
