Sounds Like Champions League Football Wouldn’t Be A Deal Clincher To This Particular Spurs Target

Wolves striker Raul Jimenez has dismissed any talk of an exit amid speculation over his future which linked Tottenham with a move.

The 28-year-old has had another impressive season with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side as he’s bagged 22 goals and 10 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.

While injuries to the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son earlier this month left Jose Mourinho short of options in attack, Jimenez has been linked with a move to Tottenham, as per the Express, but he has since shut down talk of an exit from Molineux.

“I have a contract until 2023,” he wrote on his Facebook page, as per the report above. “It’s not that we have to qualify for the Champions League in order to stay.

“I’m good [here], happy with Wolves, doing important things – me as well as the whole team. We’ve been trying our best since the start of last season. We’ve qualified for the Europa League, now we’re fighting for a Champions League spot.

“And it’s the big motivation to keep growing as a player and getting into the Champions League is always a plus that satisfies you and keeps you thinking about big things.”

As things stand, Wolves sit in sixth place in the Premier League table and remain just five points adrift of fourth spot in the ongoing battle for Champions League qualification.

Meanwhile, Spurs are down in eighth spot, two points behind Wolves and with nine games remaining albeit it remains to be seen if the season is completed depending on the coronavirus crisis.

In turn, a possible swoop to bolster their own attacking options while dealing a blow to a direct rival is seemingly not on the cards for Tottenham.
