Son and Kane equal Premier League record and will smash it very shortly

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham has just earned a 3-0 win over Leeds United in a game that some predicted that they may even lose, well, the negative bunch anyway.

Before that match, Spurs had been winless since beating Arsenal at the start of last month.

But on the 29th minute, Harry Kane opened the scoring from the penalty spot and unlike with Man Utd, it was a genuine penalty.

The England captain assisted Son Heung-min for Tottenham’s second goal on the 43rd minute, and that goal combination sees them equal a Premier League record that has stood for more than 25 years, according to the EPL website.

That was the 13th time that they have combined to score a league goal for Tottenham this season.

It equals the record set by Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton for Blackburn Rovers in the 94/95 Premier League season.

Out of the 13 goals, Kane has provided 9 assists for Son, while the South Korean has provided 4 assists for his teammate. Son also scored his 100th goal for Spurs with his strike.

They are now on course to smash that record senseless, possibly for generations to come.

Weird that they have done it under a manager that is supposedly passed it and only plays negative football.

😆. And that this why Spurs with their kind of fire power must be on the front foot because when we score and teams like Leeds keep coming, the game will be over by half time. We could have 3 in those kind of teams net bu then. And lets be honest. We are suppose to thimp these teams.

You think the league is poor because for what its worth, there are signs of parity. Give me a break.

“Unlike the Manchester penalty, it was genuine” Are watching the entire league or you just here to find something to damper the well taken 3 points. Sick and tired of you all. When we lose especially of our own doing, it is fair game. Lets enjoy the win without finding something to be snide about. How about you go look at all the players falling down in the closing minutes to draw fouls because they know Spurs are vulnerable to set pieces. Sick of you all. Why don’t you tell us why tanguy went down the tunnel. Fans would like to know that and, yes, he has disgusted from the minute he was told he was been subbed. Go look at the tape. He was not a happy man walkimg off. That is worth a point for chatter.

The Palace game was wasted points agreed – the first half they were as open as Leeds were today and we didn’t punish them enough for that.

I actually think the league is very strong this season – which is how a decent last year Sheff Utd are cut totally adrift without a win this season.

The ‘best of the rest’ have never looked so strong as a collective. Villa, Saints, Everton, Leicester is particular can beat anyone on their day. All the English teams are progressing easily in Europe which also reflects the league is competitive.

It is an open league though.

Don’t disagree but just feel we are overly cautious against some average sides at times. Agree with tactics against Liverpool, City but not CP. think the league is poor this year and is there to be won.

Klopp’s had a few clunker performances this season lest we not forget?

I think beating Leeds is expected of any decent side. They are woeful from a defensive standpoint as Utd, Liverpool, etc have all proved already. I don’t find it baffling at all that Son and Kane are doing well under Jose as our attacking approach is centered almost exclusively around the world-class duo. I think recent games against Palace and Wolves have been questionable in tactical terms and I don’t believe Klopp would have set the team up to play that way against limited opposition.

If Biesla was our manager we’d have a lot more naysayers – the ‘all out attack’ approach looked close to amateurish today.

All’s well until you get tonked 6-1 by City etc

Yes Bruce I think you summed it up very well with your last comment. It’s amazing how quite the “”Jose Negative Football Doomsday Supporters” have become. I believe that Jose does approach and play each game differently. Yes he is very defensive minded but holding and defending a lead is better than the “Gung Ho Style” expected by a great majority of Spurs supporters. I also believe that he does have a plan for each game as we saw today. Spurs were very much on the front foot today, which may have suprised Leeds somewhat and even the commentators gave them credit for the way they set themselves up when defending Leeds attacking game. Another clean sheet and a happy supporter. 🙂 🙂
