To say that Daniel Levy made a mess of judging public opinion when he furloughed the non-playing staff is a huge understatement, however, it does appear that he may have learned his lesson.
The chairman has no doubt seen what other clubs have done or attempted and decided that the best way forward is not to rush into anything that will result in more bad PR.
The Atheltic have run a piece today authored by Charlie Eccleshare and David Ornstein and in it, they have claimed that Levy has not yet approached the players about taking a pay cut and will instead wait until the picture is much clearer in terms of when the season will resume.
Talks have taken place but not about actual cuts, instead the focus has been on creating an understanding that at some point there will have to be a review but now is not the time for that.

The good news, according to Eccleshare and Ornstein is that the players are aware that they will need to do something and that the priority from the player’s perspective is that the squad remains united.
Clubs have struggled to negotiate agreements with their players across the board and the chances of there being any universal agreement with all 20 Premier League clubs is very unlikely.
Levy has got it right this time, no point going after the player’s money when there are so many unknowns. The last thing the club needs right now is another dose of bad PR

I couldn’t read more than the first few paragraphs in the article linked. It does sound yet again as if this is a PR exercise to clear up the mess they created in the first place.I didn’t see a reference to any players’ views on the subject.
Levy after taking a 20 percent hit on his wage stated “we are all in this together”…. He still took home over 550million quid the last two months 😂 Try telling that to the spurs fans who are sick or unemployed on their 70 pounds a week! (this was 100 pounds ten years ago for all you fools who voted the tories in). Levy and spurs will be fine.
