“Sick to death” “Another excuse” These Spurs fans Sound Utterly Exhausted By Transfer Warning

By Ron Carne -

Jose Mourinho will reportedly see Tottenham’s transfer budget reduced this summer amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

According to the Daily Mail, it’s suggested that the economical impact of the outbreak could have a lasting effect on Spurs.

One of the main reasons cited for the financial alterations is the expected struggle to secure a lucrative naming rights deal on the stadium and coupled with the drop in income with the season suspended, it could lead to significantly less revenue being generated.

In turn, it’s noted in the report above that the transfer budget could be impacted as a result, and it remains to be seen just how much Mourinho is given to try to strengthen his squad.

Unsurprisingly, that hasn’t gone down well with the Tottenham faithful, as seen in their tweets below, having already seen their side crash out of the FA Cup and Champions League prior to the stoppage of the campaign.

Further, they are off the pace when it comes to the battle for the top four in the Premier League, and so failure to qualify for a seat at Europe’s top table could also be a real issue for next season.

Mourinho was appointed as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor in November, and the Spurs boss would undoubtedly have hoped to stamp his mark on the squad this summer. Based on the report above, that is now in doubt, or at least he may have to adjust his expectations and targets accordingly.

If this virus is still prevalent in the summer /autumn I don’t think there will be much transfer activity for many clubs. Who would fancy a move to a Spanish or Italian club. Its likely that clubs will cut new players salaries and it will be better for players to stay where they are, especially if they are are on a good wage. There will be more player swaps, like Griezeman for Neymar, Aurier for Messi.
