Elseid Hysaj
As Sky Sports reports, the Napoli man was considered last summer, but in the end, we didn’t sign a right-back and everything worked out just fine.
Hysaj is a lot more defensively minded than Serge Aurier and can also provide cover on the left so would strengthen Jose Mourinho’s full-back options in multiple ways. The Albanian is only recently 26 and is valued at £14.4m by Transfermarkt, so he is ticking a lot of boxes for me, Clive.
Gianluigi Donnarumma
Goalkeeper is turning into just as big a priority as right-back, what with Hugo Lloris having had his ability sucked out of him ala Space Jam (1996).
Donnarumma has been a prodigy in the making for years and has been non-committal to Milan as they continue to flounder in Italian football. He wouldn’t come cheap but with only 12 months left on his deal, it might be our best chance to get a top-class Lloris replacement for a reasonable price.
Arkadiusz Milik
Yet again we will be searching for a striker and wouldn’t it be refreshing to go after somebody good for a change? Not a young foreign gamble, or a rusty old veteran but a player who is close to the peak of their powers, who could cover for Harry Kane and, dare I say it, play alongside him too.
