The Bookies’ 5 Most Likely Spurs Summer Signings

By Joe Fish -

The bookies got it right last summer when they predicted Tottenham would sign Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon.

So who do leading bookmakers fancy as the five most likely Spurs recruits when the transfer window reopens?

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Jose’s been desperately waiting for the transfer window to open and Spurs fans could be welcoming some huge names in the coming months if the latest odds are anything to go by.”

Raul Jimenez – 7/2: The Wolves striker is one of the favourites to join Spurs and those odds are probably only going to drop after Harry Kane hinted during an Instagram interview with Jamie Redknapp that he could leave.

We haven’t got the oomph to buy Jimenez as a partner for Kane, but I’m happy the Mexican appears to be top of the list of potential replacements.

Thomas Meunier – 7/2: We need at least one new right-back and Daniel Levy loves a bargain, which is why the soon-to-be out of contract PSG defender is well fancied to end up following the well-trodden path to Spurs.

Zeki Celik – 4/1: Another right-back option being tipped is the 23-year-old Turkey international currently playing at Lille. We now have the Joao Sacremento connection of course which explains the fairly short odds.

Willian – 4/1: Jose Mourinho’s former Chelsea favourite has been widely tipped for a reunion with the Special One, and several firms have the 31-year-old winger at 4/1 to end up at Spurs, seven years after he should have.

Kalvin Phillips – 4/1: A defensive midfielder will be among Mourinho’s priorities and Leeds United’s Phillips would appear to be a top target according to another firm. These odds may change if Leeds get promoted.

I’m pleased we have the reciprocal arrangement in place.

The ‘world according to you’ isn’t something I need to be lectured about whenever I visit this blog…. Many thanks.

You told me to **** off, I then asked if you could reciprocate that but you couldn’t help trolling me again. Now you’re going on about physical violence, you’re a fool to yourself. You’re a bully and a $hit one at that.

Leave me alone to air my views and you do the same, it’s probably best all round. Just one more thing, trying to ‘police’ the anti ENIC feeling on this blog as you insist on doing isn’t going to get you very far.

Different on what basis? It’s the same tight fisted bottom line first mentality seen on the football side. You’re making a differentiation in the hope it props up your lies about what our owners are all about.

Only Only stupid people defend ENIC, feel free to carry on. Bit embarrassing though innit…

I have older relatives that are means tested if they need to have social care. If you’re got personal savings above a certain figure, not very much of a life’s savings makes you ineligible for state funded care.

Are Premier League club’s being means tested before getting the taxpayer to help them out like normal people? If not, why not?

It’s disgraceful with the money sloshing about in football that they don’t even see what money they actually have to pay their staff with, for at least a while.

Levy has behaved like a complete €unt to go straight to state like this…

TO LOVE SPURS – IS TO HATE ENIC

“Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to
repeat it.”
George Santayana

………but at Tottenham the merry-go-round still plays the same tune doesn’t it: regardless of what playing staff THFC actually need, we are
linked again and again with wingers, generalist midfielders, full backs and the odd striker (as long as they’re on the cheap).

We desperately need a proper defensive midfield player and a striker capable of playing a number 9 role; either to back Kane up, play alongside
him or replace him – how many more times must we go to sea without lifeboats?

The Defensive midfielder should be in the 60million plus bracket, the striker will vary according to where he is in his career path; a bright prospect should be 15 -25 million and a more advanced deliverer, 20-40 million – we will simply not pay top rate for a top striker either in fee or wages.

But instead we have, do and will, trawl through the detritus
of bookie fancies offered up to us because we are known for buying ties and cufflinks ahead of buying a shirt!

Bookies know their stuff that’s how they stay in business and they know that
THFC will always opt for the low price gamble and despite fantasy bloggers,
will always pull out of the real deals just at the last minute.

Unless Jimenez is near the end of his contract, forget it – Wolves would price him higher than Levy’s abacus can go. A 31 year old Willian…….. stop gap for what…… we won’t offer Jan a decent contract why would Willian get one? Phillips is Div1 and has no Premier league experience – a gamble. Meunier might be a good signing if we will pay his wages.

Let’s be clear………the bookies, the professional gamblers who successfully
play the percentages, are effectively backing us NOT to sign the players we
need……. again.

Jimenez is top draw and proven, he would be a great addition. As would Willian, even if there are 2 seasons left him at most. Ignore the Chelsea link, he would improve us (the player I wish Lamela was and damn well should have been, bloody corrupt Russians). Phillips is the Jack Grealish of last season. Grealish would have been a great buy, but he got promoted. No way the Leeds lad Phillips would back out in playing in the EPL for his own town club. Once other clubs see him in the EPL, Spurs will be out of the running as Levy won’t shell out the same money as Leicester! I like the look of Phillips as a player, he doesn’t play sideways he looks forward and we should have got him at the end of last season when Leeds ran out of steam and loaned him back instead of getting Jack the lad. As for the right backs, we need something just to rid us of Aurier. Unfortunately, Eddie Large just past away so we might as well just go for anything!
