Rudy Galetti: ‘Talks are on’ – Player ‘not in Spurs plans’ and is ‘pushing’ for transfer

By Mehdi Gokal -

Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has claimed that La Liga side Real Betis are working on a deal to sign Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

As per his latest update, the talks between the two clubs are on with the player himself pushing for a move.

He also claims that Tottenham are willing to let him leave this summer but will only agree on a loan move that includes an obligation to buy clause.

He took to X to share the update:

“(Regarding) Lo Celso, Real Betis are still trying to understand if there’re margins for a loan move with buy option.

Talks with Tottenham are on: Giovani is pushing for his return at Betis. Tottenham are open to let him go but – to date – only including a buy obligation.”

Back in June, Galetti had claimed that the player is not the club’s plans and could leave this transfer window. He had tweeted: “Giovani Lo Celso is not in Tottenham’s plans and could leave THFC in the summer.

Lo Celso has struggled to secure a regular place in the Tottenham squad in recent years and has spent a significant amount of time on loan at Villarreal recently where has impressed.

However, his pre-season performances under new manager Ange Postecoglou had left the new manager impressed with reports suggesting that the Australian wants to keep him this summer.

But all latest reports seem to suggest that the player does not have a central role at the club now and is set to leave before the window shuts.

Lo Celso was included in the Tottenham squad in both the Premier League matches but remained an unused substitute.

Ange opted with a midfield trio of Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr and James Maddison against United and the three of them looked rock solid, complementing each other as they put in a dominant performance to win 2-0.

And after that performance it is possible that this will be the manager’s preferred trio for the near future.
