‘No central role’ could see 44-cap international leave Spurs in ‘two weeks’

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

The 27-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot under Ange Postecoglou so far and he could leave before the window closes.

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, the player does not have a central role at the club right now and he could leave in the next two weeks. Apparently, Barcelona are following the player and it remains to be seen whether they decide to come forward with an official approach.

Galetti told GIVEMESPORT: “Lo Celso certainly doesn’t have a central role at Tottenham now. In the next two weeks, he could leave Spurs. Barcelona are following him with interest and are attentive to his situation.”

Lo Celso was on loan at Villarreal last season and he did reasonably well for the Spanish outfit.

He has been linked with a return to Spain this summer but there have also been rumours that the midfielder has impressed the newly appointed Tottenham manager during pre-season and he could stay at the club.

It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few days.

Spurs could certainly use more quality and depth in the midfield and Lo Celso would be a quality alternative to James Maddison.

The former Leicester City midfielder was signed to add creativity and goals from the midfield this season. Lo Celso can play a similar role. The Argentine international is also versatile enough to operate as a winger.

Tottenham need more quality and depth in their side in order to get back into the Champions League and the 44-cap Argentine could be a useful option to have.

It remains to be seen whether Postecoglou can convince the player that he has an important role to play in the remainder of the season.
