Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero is under fire for his decision to taunt Manchester United defender Harry Maguire for his mishap, which resulted in an own-goal for The Red Devils, tying the game at the time 2-2.
Maguire would be rescued by Cristiano Ronaldo minutes later as the Portuguese forward would score on a corner kick set-piece to complete his hat-trick and give Manchester United the 3-2 win. After the match, the Sky Sports crew had a round table discussion on the Romero incident.
Roy Keane didn’t take too kindly to the Argentine taunting the Manchester United defender following his mistake. Keane stated that players take ‘note of that’ when they’re out on the pitch.
“Not good, no, no, no,” Keane said on Sky Sports. “You remember. When you’re a player, you take note of that, don’t worry. You take note of that.”
“Don’t like that. It comes back to haunt you. Certainly, as a defender, you make mistakes, things like that don’t go right. You don’t like to see that. It could be you next week,” former Tottenham defender Michael Dawson added.
Tottenham finds themselves on a tough road to finish in the top four. Dropping points against a club they need to leap over wasn’t the ideal outcome despite having two games in hand.
Spurs sit five points away from Manchester United, with West Ham United and Arsenal also ahead of Antonio Conte’s squad.
Keane has some front ..eh..talking shaving brush pal..
Somewhere in a jungle there is a monkey having the p#ss ripped out of him ..for having a man’s head..
Really. Really. Players go at each other even in the tunnel. Keane must be the guy who gets on with game otherwise he was busy counting blades of grass. This has nothing to do with us loosing the game. He lost Ronaldo on a switch. Maybe Keane could open his eyes and see what he is getting paid to analyze.
Keown was a weirdo as well…
I’m still not convinced about Romero, he’s a quality defender and he looks even more quality playing alongside what we already have but not sure if his temperament is right for the league. Taunting another defender like that lacks class, and it’s particularly embarrassing as we lost the game.
Yet another player on the books without the right frame of mind, we are a complete mess…
As much as I like him, this was a bit of a d*ck move but I’m more concerned about this habit he is developing of losing his man at corners.
At the final whistle they were sneering at us. Thats when it matters.
If I was Captain I would be pulling him aside and telling him to calm it down and concentrate on defending. Might work in Argie land and Italy but here you get on with doing your business in a way the attackers know you won’t yield an inch.
Tony mate at seasons end please take the armband off of Lloris and give it to an outfield player.
Shades of Keown and van Nistelroy.
