“RIP a club legend” Spurs fans react to the death of former star

Former Tottenham goalkeeper, Ray Clemence has just died at the age of 72.

The Englishman made a name for himself initially at Liverpool where he helped them dominate the English and European games.

He then signed for Tottenham in 1981 and stayed on the books of the Lilywhites until 1988.

He made 240 appearances for Tottenham and he helped them win the FA Cup in 1982, Charity Shield in 1981, and UEFA Cup in 1984.

He passed away after losing his battle with prostate cancer, which he battled for 15 years.

Tottenham has sent a condolence message to his family after his passing and the family also sent a message to the club thanking them for the support that he received from them over the years.

The club posted the family statement on their Twitter page and fans went under it to show their appreciation for the England legend.

Very sad news about the passing of Ray Clemence who always behaved with dignity.
My sincerest condolences to his family,
HH one correction to your stats I believe that RC clocked up 330 appearances for Spurs not 240 appearances as stated. Your figure of 240 = league appearances only.
League: App. 240
FA Cup: App. 25
League Cup: App. 38
Europe: App. 27
