Reports suggest Tottenham are starting to ‘become worried’ about one particular player

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur are beginning to get worried about Bayern Munich’s interest in Harry Kane, with 90Min reporting that the star has given the move some thought.

The Bundesliga giants are interested in the England captain, and they have publicly expressed their admiration for the forward. Their CEO Oliver Kahn openly declared the club’s intention to sign him earlier in the summer and then Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann fueled the fire earlier when he insisted Kane would score plenty of goals in the Bundesliga, prompting Antonio Conte to slam him for his ‘disrespectful’ comments.

And while Bayern have supposedly cooled down their public pursuit for him, Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg recently reported there were talks between Kane’s agent and the Bundesliga champions.

And, according to 90min, Spurs are now ‘becoming worried by Bayern’s advances’ towards their ‘world class‘ striker. Spurs held preliminary talks with the striker earlier this year, but no further talks have taken place since.

The report states that Tottenham are open to starting talks before the World Cup, but this appears unlikely at the moment, and they are not in a hurry to strike a new deal. His current contract expires in 2024.

Chelsea are also in the mix now as according to the recent report, Graham Potter is willing to add Romelu Lukaku as part of the cash plus player deal to sign Harry Kane. But Bayern looks a more likely destination for the Englishman if he is to leave.

So it’s Real Madrid then…

I agree, most headlines are click-bait these days. However, this isn’t purely pie in the sky stuff. Until Kane renews his contract the uncertainty will persist.

Like all of this “news” it’s clearly a wind-up to generate clicks during a break in the action. I can accept that. It is what it is as it is said.

It’s based on the ‘unknowns’, so not really a wind-up. A realistic appraisal of how things could well turn out perhaps…

Perfectly put Marbs, as usual.

So the fact remains that neither of them have extended their contracts which suggests that both of them will wait until the end of the season which is slightly ominous in itself. I doubt Kane will go to Chelsea but he he got the desire to test himself in a foreign country.? He is the natural successor to Benzema and if it was between Bayern and RM, you would have to back Madrid. Conte’s heart lies in Turin and he must have realised by now that he will never be properly backed by Levy.

Tough to call.

Harry loves Spurs but most likely can’t stand Levy (like us).

He’s comfortable in London, his home, but wants to win something and I don’t see him playing for Chelsea or Arse.

He likes playing for Conte, but will Conte stick around?

Too many unknowns so this is all just another wind-up story.

Harry Kane is not going to Bayern Munich and he is not going to Chelsea and anyone who suggests otherwise is deluded. Now whether he signs a new contract is much more open to debate. Clearly a lot depends on progress made by the club this year. Can we can finally win a trophy and/or at the very least cement another top 4 position, retain Antonio and further strengthen the squad in the next two transfer windows, to compete even more effectively next season. None of these conditions are foregone conclusions, so HK’s future beyond this season is far from certain, but Kane going to either Bayern or Chelsea is utterly implausible for numerous reasons.

Well he’s not going to sign a new deal, and the manager hasn’t been backed sufficiently to consistently challenge for honours. What else is going to be the outcome? 🤔
