Last month, Tottenham Hotspur decided to let one of the marquee signings from this past summer leave on a loan deal. After failing to see significant playing time with the north London club, winger Bryan Gil went on loan to Valencia.
The 21-year-old came from Sevilla, which saw Érik Lamela and a reported £21.5-million head to Spain. Nonetheless, after half a season, Gil is back in his native country, and Valencia could be looking to keep him past June.
Despite there not being an option or obligation clause in the loan deal, Cadena SER (via 90min) reports that Valencia is already preparing to try and extend Gil’s loan from Tottenham, having been impressed with his form since his arrival.
The Spanish media outlet adds that The Bats wants to open discussions with Tottenham about extending Gil’s loan with the Spanish club for at least another 12 months.
Gil is under contract until 2026, and Spurs still see him as part of the future, which is why they didn’t include any clauses that allow Gil to stay with Valencia past June.
Gil has already played 260 minutes and hit the ground running. He has immediately been trusted by his manager and his team mates and responded by showing why we signed him in the first place. Sancho was a superstar in Germany, played in his best position and given responsibility. When he plays for England and MU he is never given that trust or responsibility. There is something wrong with the way we treat our up and coming young stars in England.
